Je suis arrivée à la maison. Yes. I’m Back Home From France!

It’s been a fun, fun time on the Cote d’Azur. I have SO much to tell you about.

But today, I’m spending the day uploading photos for the posts about our trip. I had no idea how many photos Bonaparte and I took.

Anyway, I just wanted to write a post to tell you about a great gift that Bonaparte received from his father!  FAMILY PHOTOS!  Yes! OLD SCHOOL VINTAGE FAMILY PHOTOS!

It’s so exciting because I love living vicariously through his family.  They are just so….so…FRENCH!

I gotta stop talking.  Have a look at some of the vintage pics that I, we,   Bonaparte received.

Enjoy!

Bonaparte. Isabelle and Evie La Ponche St. Trop. 1947

Bonaparte, his sister Isabelle and their mom Evie. La Ponche, St. Tropez. 1947. Check out how chic Bonaparte’s mother is.

Bonaparte family photos. L'Estagnol 1957L’Estagnol plage 1957. I’ll be posting pics of this same beach–we went there. It hasn’t changed!!!

Bonaparte family photos. L'Estangol 1957Another shot of L’Estagnol. I think I have this same exact shot taken last week! OMG. I love this so much!

Bonaparte family photos. Marie Claire editorialWho IS that man looking at?? Why it’s Bonaparte. And his sister Isabelle is to the left of him. This was a picture from an editorial in Marie Claire magazine.  Bonaparte said it was for a famous designer but he couldn’t remember who the designer was.  He said it was either Dior, Carven, or Givenchy!  We need to return to dressing like this!

Bonaparte. 1957. South of franceKeep calm and study! Bonaparte was such a serious student. Suntanning whilst studying. I certainly never studied while baking in the sun! This was 1957.

Bonaparte family photos. Evie 1957Another shot of the beautiful Evie. Bonaparte’s mother and I have the same sandals. She loved her Rondini Tropeziennes just as much as I do!

Bonaparte family photos. Evie and Jean with cowhandsThis HAS to be one of my favorite pics of all time.  Check out Bonaparte’s mother Evie and his stepdad Jean in the background! Even in a barn surrounded by farm life, there is still time for romance!

Bonaparte family photos daniele and yves weddingOK. Wanna know why THIS photo is so special?  Well, it’s because this was our first visit to France without visiting Daniele (R.I.P) And look!!! We still got to see her because this photo was included with the pile of pics. It’s Daniele and her husband, Yves Robert on their wedding day!

Hope you enjoyed! I’m going back to uploading pics!  Glad to be back at the computer after a hiatus of phone, TV, computers and wee-fee (That’s how the French pronounce Wi-Fi. I know these things! I’m special!)

Stay tuned!!! XOXOXOXOXO!!

About Catherine

Far from perfect, but enjoying life as a non-perfect and flawed individual at 60 years young. I'm still wondering what I'll be when I grow up! The characters in my life's screenplay include my better half. He is a refined Frenchman who grew up in Paris and summered in St. Tropez. I grew up in Long Island and summered in Long Island. I am not refined. My three grown children are also a big part of my life. For their sake, they happily live where their careers have taken them! But I can still mother them from a distance! I write about the mundane. I write about deeply shallow issues. But whatever I write or muse about--it'll always be a bit on the humorous and positive side! It's all good!

I’m totally loving those vintage photos!! What style everyone had! They’re all too incredibly beautiful for words. 🙂 I got a good laugh out of the photo where Bonaparte’s mom and stepdad are going to town in the background while everyone else is concerned with the bull! Haha! Vive l’amour! So glad you are back home safe and sound! Can’t wait to see more pictures. 🙂

    Terri Lee XOXOXO

    • Catherine says:

Hi Terri Lee. OMG. RIght?? I’m so happy you get it! I was hysterical over the fact that Bonaparte’s mom and stepdad were oblivious to everyone else but them! I swear I was crying from laughing! Glad you love the pics!!! XOXOXO!!!

  11. JulietC says:

So glad you are back – really missed you (yes despite the fact that technically we don’t know each other). Love those photos – in fact love old photos full stop, the daughter has just hit 21 and I found some suitably appalling photos of her as a wean, she was not impressed

    • Catherine says:

Hi Juliet! Thanks so much–it’s funny because I missed my circle of friends who read the blog. I kept thinking of everyone. Oh..the old photos..I was laughing so hard at dinner because I told Bonaparte that even as a young child, he looked a bit miffed!! XOXOXOXO!!!

  12. painterwrite says:

These are such fabulous photos. How in the world is it that everyone looked so attractive back then…even in their “grubbies” people in the 50s all looked like movie stars!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Painter. Oh..tell me about it! I think it is because in the 50’s, there was no such thing as polyester! Everyone wore natural fibered fabrics. Seriously. I look like a bum when I’m at the beach. Bonaparte’s mother looked like a movie star!! XOXOXO!!!

  13. Bernadette says:

I missed you. Welcome back. The picture are very precious.

  14. Trudy says:

    • Catherine says:

Hi Terry! Hope all is well with the sale for you! Glad you are enjoying the pics. We did have a fantastic time and now it is back to anxiety! XOXOXOXO!! Happy Stars & Stripes to you too my buddy!

  16. Lyn says:

These pictures are absolutely amazing — they would be so beautiful framed in vintage frames in a little tabletop vignette. I have only been reading your blog for a month or so but it is so fun to read that I missed it when you were gone!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Lyn. Oh wow! YOU GAVE ME THE GREATEST IDEA! I am going to find vintage frames for those pics. Thank you so much!!!!!! LOL. Glad that you read some posts while I was gone. Second day that I’m uploading more pics. I hope to have a post by the end of today!!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!

  17. oneta hayes says:

I understand your excitement about the pictures. They are wonderful.

  18. calensariel says:

How far back can Bonaparte trace his family roots?

  19. mareymercy says:

Oooops I am reading these backwards…oh well. I love these old photos! They are all so romantic!

  20. Nice vintage picture. I have been once in St. Tropez A long time ago. That is where Brigitte Bardot reside. She is 80 now.

    • Catherine says:

Hi Dude. Oh. There’s a ton more vintage pics. And they are amazing! I also have a great St. Trop story coming up. Bardot–I look for her every time we’re in St. Tropez but she’s like a recluse! XOXOXOXO!

  21. Did you get the french films that you wanted by the way.

    • Catherine says:

Hi Dude. No, I didn’t. We picked up one film: “Voice leTemps des Assassins” because Daniele DeLorme is in it. It’s always fun to watch her in films because I’m missing being with her. It also stars Jean Gabin..and I’m waiting to tell a bit of dishiness on a blog post that’s connected with our trip! XOXOXOXO!! I did manage to pick up some good music though!
