I went to see hair stylist/cutter extraordinaire Adam today. My hairs were in dire need of serious trimming.
Adam is always happy to see me. I think. Now he has two heads of my hair to cut!!
Yeah. You read that correctly. I did write my hairs.
Adam not only cut my real hair, but he also cut my newest wig.
My newest cap of fake hair. The Seville by Noriko. It’s nice hair but the bangs are just too long!
I’ll get to the point. The hair loss is getting so that I’m done worrying about it. My new solution is to just wear my real hair when it is spanking clean and the roots are colored and I have plenty of Toppik on hand. All other days, I’ll either wear a topper, my extensions or a wig.
I’m also getting tired of doing the LadyTrumpCombover. Besides. My politics don’t blend well with he of the comb over.
Anyway, it seems that I’m spending more and more time “fixing” my real hair. Besides–I’m lazy. And in the morning when I have to get ready for work, I don’t want to take forever to look human. Plopping a wig or topper on just makes my beauty routine a lot easier.
But before I go on, I have to say that I’m really disappointed in the hair color I purchased that was on sale at Sally Beauty Supply. I strayed from my usual Age Beautiful color and took a chance on The Wella Color Charm that was advertised on a BOGO. Ugh. This stuff is garbage. The gray/white started inching out a week after I colored it. My hair looks skunky now. I’ll go back to the Age Beautiful. It lasts a lot longer.

So I ordered this wig. The “Seville” by Noriko.
Surprisingly, this wig, Seville, looks better IRL because it isn’t as shiny!
I got a great price online at Ace Wigs. After I made the purchase I read that Ace can be kind of “iffy” with orders. I’m sure I started to stress eat after reading that. I had no issues. My wig arrived quicker than I ever expected and it was in great shape. I’ll be reordering with Ace. Since this particular wig was on sale, and there was only one in my color, I was a bit nervous about what it would look like. But as soon as I put it on, I was incredibly happy!
My wig came packaged very nicely and securely in this box.
The only “issue” was the length of the bangs. They were way too long!
My real hair also needed some love. Summer is awful on hair. The heat. Humidity. The sea. The chlorine. It wreaks havoc. And since I didn’t think I would need to have my roots done when I originally colored my hair, Adam didn’t have time to fit a color in.
No biggie. I’ll just look like a skunkfor another week or so!

And when I arrived to see Adam this morning he was quite impressed at how nicely the Seville wig looked. He definitely agreed that the bangs were way too long and a few snips later, my Seville was perfect!

Perfect! Oh..my fang is sticking out. See to the right? I have a fang that sticks out when I smile. I refuse to have it filed down because it is a part of me! I love my fang! Watch out I don’t bite you!
Then it was on to wash and cut my real hair. He took off a bit more than usual—and that’s fine with me because my hair feels so much better now. He also didn’t think I lost a ton more hair. He said he could notice a bit more loss on the top of my head but with the Toppik sprinkled in—all the baldness was covered!
Another great cut by Adam. He cut off a bit more at the ends but I’m happy he did. BTW, Bonaparte was driving..and I’m becoming increasingly annoyed at my laziness for not wearing a razor-back bra–but I was in a rush.
I left a happy camper. I’m telling you. If you live anywhere on the Main Line of Philly or in the ‘burbs, check out Bleu Mousse Salon in Wayne. I love that salon. Doug, the owner, and Adam are the greatest! I would travel hours to get my hair done there!
And speaking of more fake hair, yesterday after work I stopped at the Hair Outlet in Norristown. I’ve been checking out African American wigs online because the price point is incredibly good. And if I want to “experiment” with fake hair, I think a better price is more of an advantage. This store sells mostly African American wigs, but the brand I was looking for, Bobbi Boss, wasn’t stocked.
Instead I purchased Vivica Fox’s “Shiny” wig (Ugh. What a weird name for a wig—it sounds so….just so fake!). It was $19.99.
This is also a Yaki textured wig. Just what IS Yaki texture? It’s this: Yaki texture is process to your wig that adds a micro kink to the hair strands to mimic Africa-American relaxed hair. The texture fits my natural hair quite well because I have incredibly coarse and porous hair!
I couldn’t resist. It’s a nice angled bob.

I took a few strands of my natural hair out of the front to blend in with this wig and it blended really well….
Here’s a side view. It is so full and reminds me of the way I used to wear my natural hair before the fallout!
When I had a ton of hair, I LOVED wearing my hair bobbed. Then my hair left me and a bob was just not working anymore! Now, thanks to this wig, I can wear an angled bob again! And I don’t have to worry about my bob frizzing in the humidity!
Definitely worth the $19.99 pricetag. I should get an auburn one–for old times sake. Yes. I went through a few years of being a redhead and I loved it!
Two new styles. They will surely keep my head warm when the cool weather arrives. Look in the background. Chippy is bored out of his mind!
Seriously. If you are thinking about wearing a wig, whether due to hair loss from an unknown source or as a result from menopause or illness—or even if you just want to change up your look, do it! I’ll also add that as we age our hair isn’t as lush as it was in our younger days–nothin’ that some fake hair won’t take care of!!

Ahh..it is almost time to feed Chippy. I think he’s a bit pissed off at me because I’m a day late to National Dog Day. I need to go buy him a toy or something to make him a bit less pissed at me.
Look at that face. He is so upset that I forgot about National Dog Day. WAIT!!! He spent yesterday at Doggie Day Camp with his buddies. I’ll tell him that’s why we sent him there–as a present for Dog Day!
It’s also almost time to start prep work for dinner this evening. Bonaparte is being very supportive of my Weight Watchers journey. He is carefully measuring out my crème de cassis and champagne and not allowing me to have bread. I am wise to his support. The less I have = more for him!

You look so pretty in those. Does wearing a wig make your scalp hot? I have ridiculously long red hair and have always wanted to have black bobbed hair with bangs just for fun but I think my head would sweat. I’m a little nervous to spend a lot of money and hate wearing one
Hi Sunny! It’s pretty hot here in the Northeast. When I had the wigs on earlier they didn’t bother me but I didn’t have them on for that long. The bobbed wig by Vivica Fix is very light and airy. I can definitely see wearing it all day in this weather. The Seville, I would save for the cooler weather. At 19.99 the bob is nothing to be nervous about. It was a great buy. I think if you do purchase a wig that you should look to see if the cap is flexible–that ought to help!! XOXOXOXO!!!

I tried getting me a wig once but I just got so hot that I had to take it off, haven’t tried since. How do you manage the heat with a wig on?
Oh..I have the AC blasting in my car and when I get to work, the AC is always on. Now–I’ve only been wearing toppers to the office because it IS hot right now. I’ll throw on a wig to run errands but I’ll start wearing a full cap when the weather gets cool. XOXOXOXO!!!
Those of us with dark hair are lucky – we can usually wear the wigs for darker skin tones easier than blondes or redheads with light skin. Especially you because your hair is so dark! I think the darker colors are less shiny than the blondes, too. On my blog a lot of people don’t like the inexpensive wigs I review but I think that is just because they are not used to seeing me in them. The hair fiber and cap construction is very different between them, but being able to buy wigs for $20 or less is always a good thing! I just filmed one I love that was $9.99, and another one that was a Bobbi Boss brand for $50. Not uploaded yet though. Oh and you are very lucky your stylist would cut your wig – a lot of them won’t do it!
Hi Cynthia! OMG. I cannot wait to see your review of the Bobbi Boss wig. I am dying to purchase the Millie wig. Its a lace front and I’ve never ventured into that territory. But I’m so curious and fascinated by the fact that “European” wigs are pricier than “African American” Wigs. I wonder if it is because white women have a stigma against wearing wigs? I’m very fortunate. Adam didn’t even charge to cut the bangs into the wig either. He’s amazing and will welcome any other wig I bring to him. I’m surprised that a lot of stylists won’t cut the wigs. But yeah, I’m really happy with the Seville! XOXOXOXO!!!
Those look GREAT on you! They look very, very natural. My (short) hair is so thin that if I wore any kind of wig it would look totally obvious, you know? But I wish I could……I’d love to wear something with bangs. Thanks for the information!!!!
Hi Leslie! Luckily I had to play with the wigs to make them look natural. I do think one with bangs looks a bit more real due to the fact there’s no tell-tall signs. Go. Get one with the bangs. You’ll love it! XOXOXOXO!!!
The wigs look very realistic and look wonderful on you! I took a chance and just bought a Toni Brattin topper from the Evine channel for $34.00. Luckily it’s not as shiny as her wigs look on air and it looks realistic enough, but I’m still trying to get it to sit right. I’ll probably end up bringing it to my next hair appointment to get some professional help, because right now it looks like a small animal is sleeping on top of my head!
Hi Margaret. I’ll have to check out this Toni Brattin line. I think QVC used to sell her line. Toppers can be a bit of work to deal with. I have two of the Tony of Beverly Toppers and find the front has to be worked with–which takes time and when I have to get to work it can be a challenge. I’m bringing them to Adam on my next trip. LOL. Mel–Bonaparte refers to “hair” in the plural too. In fact, the first time I was in Paris, I noticed that bars had signs outside advertising “Happy HourS” from 5 – 7. Which made sense because here we say Happy HouR when it is clearly longer than 60 minutes!!! XOXOXO!!!
The wigs look great on you. I have a problem with colouring my hair as it seems to go orangey after 6 weeks or so. I tried going grey for 2 years but everyone thinks it looks better dyed! Maybe a wig is the answer.
Hi Daisies! Oh..please don’t get me started on the gray. My hair, like yours, just looks better dyed. Not everyone can go grey gracefully and there are some very militant thoughts on that. Try a wig–I think it just may work for you! XOXOXOXO!!!

Hey Cathy I just like tell you I use wella color charm all the time on my clients and it’s an excellent product for the price.. I get fantastic grey coverage an id like to inform you something must of went wrong with the mixing process or the grey buster you used. You always need to use something with the letter N for natural to cover grey. I’d guess you need a 211or 2n also did you double your peroxide for this formula? Ang
Hmmm Angie. This is interesting. I actually did double up on my peroxide and didn’t feel comfortable about it but did anyway. I just ran downstairs to see if I did, in fact, have a color with an “N”. I did 1N. Since I don’t let anything go to waste, I’ll use the second tube. Do you think I need a stronger peroxide other than 20??? XOXOXOXO!!!

You look absolutely gorgeous with those different styles, you look so much happier (more confident?) with your hair. But then I think most women equate good looking hair with confidence. One tiny issue – that first model shot of the young woman… (And I know this is plain mean, but why – why do young women pose with their mouths hanging open / dangling bottom jaw???? Why? It is not smart looking, in fact it looks a little afflicted. Even with her mouth shut, she doesn’t look as good as you. With her mouth shut I am sure she’d look great, but yeah the hanging gob – what is with that and young women? Yes. Know that’s a mean shot and someone’s kid – but shut your mouth pet!)
Hi Juliete! Oh. That stock photo. I know exactly what you mean. I think it’s supposed to be a sexy or come hither pose. It’s ridiculous–isn’t it?? JLo does that all the time and I cannot stand looking at her. But–in the defense of the model in that stock pic, it’s TOVA. She’s the best wig model ever. I don’t know why she talked someone into letting her pose like that but she usually looks so much better. I’ll tell you, Tova can sell the fugliest wig in record time. How sick is it that I feel like I am friends with this model that I have no idea of what she is like in real life?……………………………….XOXOXOXOXO!!!

I honestly don’t remember! I usually browse the internet while drinking my coffee each morning – the thing that keeps me from overspending is, I can online browse all I want, but I’m not allowed to purchase anything before noon! LOL. It works. Anyway, in one of those morning coffee times I came across Jenika somewhere. I’d seen the Escara line before but only their short wigs; Jenika seemed new so I figured what the hell, for $30 let’s give it a go!
I’ll have to pick up and review my other low-priced cheapie that I like. It’s called Juniper by a line called Mimosa. I just don’t care much for the HD fiber on that one, but it’s a pretty long style too.

I love that wig on you! Given that every other hairdresser I go to can’t seem to figure out how to do a long A-line bob (I have straight hair, meaning this cut should not present any challenges whatsoever), I may just give up and look into getting one of those puppies.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you totally rock a wig! I’ve had some friends who’ve had to wear wigs, having lost their hair through chemotherapy. They’ve all looked fantastic but I think I need to get over the medical connection, in my head, and start seeing wigs as being fun. Hope this make sense! Xx
