HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!!

It’s the annual day of  love!  St. Valentine’s Day!

There are so many interpretations on this subject.  I’m kind of liking Pompeo Batoni’s rendition of Diana and Cupid.

Diana and Cupid by Pompeo Batoni.  1761.  Cupid’s been around for a long time!

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you all a very happy Valentine’s Day!

I love you!  And I thank you for continuing to read this blog!

So here’s how my Valentine’s Day rolled.  While I was getting ready for work today, Bonaparte slipped an envelope into my hand.  Inside was a Valentine’s Day card (and I’m sorry that I didn’t take a photo because it’s hanging in my work cubicle!

In the card was a piece of paper with a message that read “I AM TAKING YOU TO WASHINGTON, DC FOR THE WEEKEND!”

I’m telling you, I was thrilled!  I was so happy because we hadn’t been to DC in ages and we always have a great time.  We chill at the hotel, then go out to dinner, then on Sunday we hit the National Gallery and come home.  Just a nice little getaway!

Trust me, this was a great surprise because thinking about it took my mind off of the traffic issues on 422 this morning.  My second day of work.  I left early to print out some documents for the day and what normally takes 20 minutes took over an hour-and-a-half.

And many people in the Philly area have this 422 Sucks sticker on their cars. I want one too!

There was a ten-car pile up,  and six other accidents along this horrific road this morning.  Sadly there was a fatality.  And everyone arrived at the office late today!

Anyway,  we are taking it easy for the evening.  I’m going upstairs to watch the Olympics and the coverage hasn’t been that great so far.

I’ll be reporting on my week on Saturday morning before we leave for DC.  I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!!

Here’s a very pretty song that is very appropriate for today!  Love Makes The World Go Round!

About Catherine

Far from perfect, but enjoying life as a non-perfect and flawed individual at 60 years young. I'm still wondering what I'll be when I grow up! The characters in my life's screenplay include my better half. He is a refined Frenchman who grew up in Paris and summered in St. Tropez. I grew up in Long Island and summered in Long Island. I am not refined. My three grown children are also a big part of my life. For their sake, they happily live where their careers have taken them! But I can still mother them from a distance! I write about the mundane. I write about deeply shallow issues. But whatever I write or muse about--it'll always be a bit on the humorous and positive side! It's all good!

Happy Valentine’s to you and your sweetie and everyone! Wow B really knows how to woo a girl….weekend getaway to DC sounds great. If you run into Donald please give him a piece of your mind……I’ll back you up! We usually don’ t go out on Vday but tonight we are going to a concert and maybe a simple cafe dinner. Every day could be a day for love……..although I’m not up for “doing it” every day like when I was young, but I sure appreciate my husband and long term relationship……..wouldnt trade it for anything……well maybe a 30yo six pack…….ha….try to keep up with that. Back to Vday………have a happy one and love yourself. I do t think V day is only for couples. Singles can love themselves and I invite girlfriends to be my girl Valentine…….what do u say?

Oh…and I would hate to run into that pig. If B saw he was anywhere near me, he would drag me away in fear I would end up behind bars–LOL!!! Xoxoxoxo

Happy Valentines and doesn’t that Diana rock a rather lovely pair of sandals in that painting. No Valentines celebration in this house – gravel-guy is a man of hard science and tight wallet 🙂 I doubt he has a romantic bone in his body, I have learnt to lower any expectations accordingly – expect nothing and then aim that bit lower 🙂 he does however have exceptional map-reading and direction/getting un-lost skills. I bought myself some perfume (any excuse for a bit of a splurge at SpaceNK), sadly I cant currently smell it – I have a disgusting cold and have the week off to use up some annual leave so naturally I have eaten my body weight in cheese (now why is THAT not an olympic sport huh? I am so doped up on Sudafed and other stuff my mind is not with the rest of me, ohhh for the green-snotter-fairies to just leave me alone).

Check out the women’s art museum, it’s fantastic. Unfortunately I don’t remember the exact name.

Happy Belated Valentine’s Day! I dragged my sorry butt out last night to see Le Mis with my darling of 42 years. First major outing after the surgery three weeks ago. We were going to do dinner before but I thought it best not to tempt the ‘grumpy bowel’ anyway every restaurant is packed downtown because of Ottawa’s Winterlude celebration and VDay. Our favourite bistro will wait.
We don’t do a big deal on Val Day but we always give each other a small gift ( he loves peanut butter cups) and/or card. I always get flowers but not always roses. Often a pot of spring bulbs! When our kids were little we always included them too with boxes of Smarties or cupcakes and a favourite supper meal! My husband felt that the day celebrates love for family as well as romantic love<3 Although it takes many attributes to build a strong relationship I am not sure if I could deal with a man who lacks a sense of romance
.A-M Alberghetti!! My Dad had that album( at 92 still a romantic guy)..he just loved her voice, she was so pretty too. He used to say I looked like a blue eyed version of her….I wish..haha he is very kind too!
Enjoy your weekend! Getaways at anytime are fun and a good way to reconnect!
