My Time Management Sucks

Quite honestly, the title says it all.  It isn’t the time management at work that sucks either. On the contrary—I have my workday down to a science.  And my important stuff is always completed by the end of the day.  And I do my prep work for the next day so that I’m entering my cubicle in relaxing ease.

And every weekday I arise at exactly 6:00 AM and am dressed and ready to go at precisely 7:30 AM.

It’s when I get home that everything goes to $hit. It seems like there are not enough hours in the evening!  When I wasn’t working, it was very easy to sit down at the computer and write the blog posts—it was my job! But without pay and benefits!

Ummmm.  I do believe that there is no such thing as quittin’ time. We’re always busy!!!

So, I’m asking you to be a bit patient with me as I get myself a bit organized and fit a regular schedule of blog posts into my now working life.

That being said, last week was such a vile weather one.  The sun shone one day. The other four days brought about Mother Nature’s reminder that it is still Winter.  On Wednesday, it snowed so badly that most of the companies called a snow day—and since a great number of employees in the company I work for can do their work from home, I was the only one at the office.  And I loved every moment of it.  Got a lot done.

It’s also that time of year when everyone is becoming increasingly tired of the seasonal clothing and they want to get into some spring attire.  Not me boy.  I gained so much weight that two pair of my winter pants don’t fit me anymore. I’m so ashamed.  I really have to get on the good foot to drop some serious weight by the summer.

So even though the winter doldrums may have set in, I’m still enjoying the sweaters and heavier clothing.  Here’s a look at what I wore last week.

Last Monday, I opted for a gray dress to go with the gray sky.  I wore black tights and boots with it.  It was a very gray day!

On Tuesday, I brought out a bit of brightness with these neon corduroy pants and a navy tunic sweater. Very comfy.

Snow Day!  I wore this outfit for the snow.  The boots, by Unisa cost $40 three years ago and lasted better than those Tory Burch boots!!!  And in the snow no less!

Thursday was another snowy day with the same pants and boots as the day before. Hey. Nobody saw me because I was the only one at work!  I wore a cute ski-themed sweater by J. Crew!

Jeans Friday!!!!  Jeans with a plaid Lady Jacket, a black sweater and pearls. A fun Friday look!

On Saturday I wore my favorite Tee with a navy blazer and cuffed jeans.  Oh. And I wore loafers too!

Saturday, Bonaparte and I took a trip to the outlets in Limerick. He needed socks—he purchases his socks only at J. Crew or J. Crew Factory.   A big sale was going on and I picked up these cute printed skimmer pants, a Teddi sweater and a really cute striped tee for the upcoming warmer weather!

The bright green Teddi Sweater is a great match for the printed Skimmer pants I got..

….but this Tee!!!!  Pink Flamingo!!!!!!! I can’t wait to wear this!!!

Hey. Are you familiar with Tati Westbrook?  Her YouTube channel, GlamLifeGuru is one of my favorites.  She reviews tons of makeup and she’s quite fond of the drug store items.

Tati Westbrook–her YouTube reviews are always great and informative and detailed!!!

She recently reviewed this new foundation from L.A. Girl cosmetics.  She highly recommended it for the value and the way it wore.  She paid ten bucks for it.

For the price, this foundation is decent!

Naturally, I had to try it and found it at Ulta for $8.99!  Tati made note to purchase a shade lighter than how the foundation appeared in the  bottle.  I went with the shade “Fair”.

A little pump of this goes a long, long way. A long way!  It looked a bit yellow when I pumped it onto my hand (as a palette), I added a drop of Argan oil and applied it.

The foundation appeared yellow on my hand but it may have also been the lighting.  This is ONE pumpful!!  A small amount really goes a long way with this!

This isn’t a bad foundation.  I wouldn’t call it full-coverage but it works fine if you want a buildable or medium coverage base.  I love the pump because you get just enough!

I applied with a dampened beauty blending sponge and had no complaints.

I went very light with this yesterday morning.  It’s got a nice finish but it isn’t full coverage..

The foundation lasted all day.  Nothing faded. Nothing wore off.

I built it up slightly today for a bit more coverage and I liked it better…

In fact, when I arrived home today, I had hair mail waiting for me.  Estetica Design’s “Violet” wig. She’s a cut short wavy bob—perfect for summer and the Caramel Kiss color is great!  It’ll look awesome with my fake tan!

Here’s the wig and the foundation!  If you just happen to be at Ulta or any drug-store that sells L.A. Girl, you might want to try this foundation out.  It did NOT dry my skin, it didn’t cake up, it remained nice all day!

These photos were taken at around six this evening.  The only thing I did was add a bit of lip balm. The foundation looks really, really good!  Ten bucks–you can’t beat that!  But the wig!!  What do you think?  I love it!  Violet is a winner!!!

Enjoy your evening!  I’ve got a few more cosmetics I want to share with you in my next blog post!!!! And thank you for your patience with me!!

Given my horrible time management in my personal life, I just had to share this oldie but greatie!  Time Has Come Today, by the Chambers Brothers. IMPO, one of the best rock songs ever!

About Catherine

Far from perfect, but enjoying life as a non-perfect and flawed individual at 60 years young. I'm still wondering what I'll be when I grow up! The characters in my life's screenplay include my better half. He is a refined Frenchman who grew up in Paris and summered in St. Tropez. I grew up in Long Island and summered in Long Island. I am not refined. My three grown children are also a big part of my life. For their sake, they happily live where their careers have taken them! But I can still mother them from a distance! I write about the mundane. I write about deeply shallow issues. But whatever I write or muse about--it'll always be a bit on the humorous and positive side! It's all good!

The color of this new wig really brightens up your face and the style is just too cute on you.

  2. Jeanne says:

I love the new messy bedhead look…love the highlights…love the whole Violet look.

  3. Linlee says:

Don’t be so hard on yourself about your blogging schedule. It’s totally understandable that you can’t post so often now that you’re back to work. That said, I like it when a blogger has a regular schedule. One I read posts every Sunday. Others post Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesdays and Thursdays. And as you have done in the past, I like knowing when a blogger won’t be blogging…for whatever reason. It makes me feel like I am valued and respected as a reader. Your voice is interesting and unique. I always enjoy what you have to say.

  4. Cindy Finch says:

That new wig looks sensational on you Cathy. The lighter coloured wigs really light up your face.

Thanks Cindy! I’m really loving the lighter ones too. A certain someone still likes the darker ones but it looks like he’s coming around!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

You look great in that foundation, even when you applied it lightly on the first day! And you look great in the new wig, and the Isla too. Don’t worry about the blogging, you work full time. I really look forward to reading your blog and watching your videos. Your spirit is contagious!

    • Catherine says:

Thanks so Leah!!! Yeah–for ten bucks that foundation is pretty darn good!! LOL–everyone at work loves my wigs!! I’m so happy to work in a wig-friendly environment!!! XOXOXOXO!!!

Miss Violet is a winner! Love the colour on you too, very fun and playful look! It’s best to pace yourself with the blog posts, it will help with any deadline anxiety and your faithful following is here, we’re not running away. You gotta work but you wanna blog so best to have quality over quantity.
Ugh…I’ve just dumped another blogger because I had an issue with a link to a fashion accessory that was incredibly over priced, like in the four figures. I know that everybody is allowed to spend as they like on what they want but this person has commenters that openly admit to purchasing EVERYTHING she recommends.( is that flattery or just weird?) I know there is a kickback when readers follow those links and in general I don’t disagree if the blogger has tried, seen, touched the item IRL and can give an honest recommendation but just randomly linking stuff that might even make a FLOTUS pause ( well maybe not the current one:) just doesn’t seem right or ethical. There needs to be some responsibility to the readers IMHO. Anyway myself and a few others who spoke up were soundly bitch slapped, the blogger was diplomatic but her readers comments ….ouff! So girl if you need to cut back to three posts a week, you are one blogger who I support 100%. You are honest, straightforward, funny as all get out and you respect your crew.

    • Catherine says:

Hey Momcat! Thanks so much for your stellar support! Hey, you know that when I recommend something, I’ve tried it for a while (most times) or I purchased it myself! That Amazon thingy I’m doing, I’m recommending stuff I buy and it isn’t pricey either! You have NO idea how many blogs I’ve stopped reading for the same reasons. I’m tired of the overpriced pedigreed junk that some of these older and more entitled bloggers are shilling. I want a story. A good story and I want a blog to be fun–I’m pretty sure you and I have unsubscribed to some of the same blogs . Hope you are feeling better by the day my buddy-roo!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  8. Judy says:

Violet is a winner! And so are you. As Momcat just said, we aren’t going anywhere, we will always be here. Your posts are worth waiting for!

  9. TURNER says:

Violet is adorable! And so are your neon corduroys. Is the dark stripe on that cute flamingo tee black or navy?

  10. I am in love with that cute, sassy wig of yours – I seriously almost ordered it for myself last week! You got some great pieces at the outlets – that striped, flamingo tee is beyond cute and I love the printed skimmer pants and teddi sweater – perfect for St. Patrick’s Day!
    xo,

Hi Kellyann! I swear that wig is everything and a bag of chips! I love J. Crew Factory–I’m telling you many times I find more at Factory than the J. Crew Brick and Mortar shops!!! XOXOXOXO

  12. Oh I love, love LOVE the pink and navy outfit!! That should be in your regular rotation. Also, the new wig is so cute! I love that you can switch up your lengths and styles so easily 🙂

    • Catherine says:

Hi Keri! That’s the beauty of wigs. They are so much fun!!!!! And thank you about the pink and navy outfit. I definitely will be wearing it more!!!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  13. Liz Cherewan says:

    Hi Catherine,

just wanted to comment on something I am trying and that is pacing. One of the ieas in pacing is try not to have the same expectations of yourself in your current situation based on your previous situation. So before when you were at home you had more time to put out more frequent blog posts. But now you are working and seem to have the expectation of having the same blog productivity as before. Go easy on yourself – you are doing great managing a few posts with working on top of it and home making too!

Hi Liz! Wow! Thank you for adding some common sense! I’m always told to pace myself and should heed the advice. Thank you for making me realize that pacing is important!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  14. fiona says:

Cathe, cut yourself some slack. Working full time just doesn’t afford you the down time to be such a prolific blogger. I work full time myself and am away from the house for 13 hours a day….sometimes I don’t even turn on the computer in the evenings, I am so tired. (which explains my own erratic blogging/commenting) I am here because I love your humour, your frankness and common sense… and of course, the Frenchie bits. I really look forward to your posts.
Violet looks great on you btw, those shorter choppy wigs suit you so well.
    Bon jeudi ! xx

Pink and navy outfit is definitely a winner! Lise
