To be honest, I didn’t know how to start this post or when I would write it.
I have two reviews planned, went on a visit to see my grandson, been working 9-to-10-hour days, and all through this, the people of Ukraine are on my mind.
I will be reviewing this foundation. Hint-It’s good!
There’s so much going on in my head right now that the random thoughts just don’t stop.
The ******* rat ****** (I have given up cursing for Lent so you’re going to see many little asterisks) Putin is s ******* sicko. And, he’s cowardly hiding within the walls, thicker than lead, that can shield his cowardly being—just like his **** buddy Trump. They are two of a kind.
Vultures of a feather stick together. These two animals should get a hotel room. Oh. Wait. They already have.
Putin thinks it is perfectly fine to murder women and children. His Volga Boatman soldiers think nothing of taking the life out of innocent people with a few bombs or bullets—just like Hitler’s Nazi regime did to the Jews. Only this time, it’s Jews, Catholics, Atheists and whoever gets in their way.
If Putin isn’t stopped, we all might be singing Song of the Volga Boatmen as our national anthems.
Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has more balls than Putin, Trump, and the Republican Congress put together. Zelenskyy has stood up to the evillest dictator of our present time and he isn’t backing down.
Now THIS is a real man and leader. And he doesn’t have bone spurs.
But it’s the people of the Ukraine that need to be admired. They won’t back down either. Instead, they are fighting. They are doing everything they can to preserve their freedom. They are true patriots—unlike in America where we have the insurrectionists trying to take our government over for their beloved Trump.
This 23-year old mom became a soldier to protect her children, freedom and country….
..a far cry from these two filthy pigs. Boebert and Greene should have their tongues ripped out and put in a cell for at least 25 years –heckling our President. These two are the trash that’s been left out for a couple of weeks on the side of the road.
And don’t even get me started on the Americans who are complaining about the rising cost of gas. Hey. Use one car instead of two or three. Walk the mile to your grocery store. Carpool with a coworker. Stay home. I’m certain the people of Ukraine would pay any amount of money for gas just to have their freedom and this senseless war of Putin’s over.
And the irony is many who complain will spend ten bucks for a pack of smokes and load up on a case of beer. Stop smoking and get rid of the beer for a while. Stop complaining.
But how am I helping? Well, for one, I’ve donated to Jose Andre’s World Central Kitchen. It’s important that the now displaced people of Ukraine are fed. They need strength.
The look on his face says it all. Jose Andres is a one-in-a-million guy. He’s doing all he can to help the people of Ukraine.
I’ve also created a “Curse” Jar. Since I have given up displaying my gutter-mouth for these 40 days of Lent, there are times (especially while driving) that I “slip” into some naughty language. For every curse word I utter, I charge myself a dollar. I have two fives in the jar already. I can assure you at the end of Lent there will be a sizeable amount. I’ll peruse the sights and donate—most likely I’ll donate more to the World Central Kitchen.
I should just deposit my paycheck into this jar. Actually, I’ve been pretty good.
There is a plethora of sites that are accepting donations—do your research though to ensure they are legit!
CARE is one of the very legit groups that is taking donations.
I purchased a little sticker from VioletPoppyDesign on Etsy. For $4.00 some of her profits are going to WCK. Can you imagine if one hundred people bought her little Ukraine sticker? Or 1,000. Or 10,000? Every penny counts.

And, as you might know, I have a good number of followers on my Instagram account. Nothing outstanding, but a nice number. My Instagram is fun for me because I’ll showcase outfits that I’m wearing, or what I’m up to. I keep it light. I do, from time to time, post my views on political issues but those are few and far between.
I’m not shilling my clothes. I’m merely showcasing my personal style. But the past week or so has not been leaving me upbeat.
I absolutely posted on my thoughts of the current event in Ukraine.

And what I’ve learned from Instagram is…. how can I put this? There are a lot of phony-*** influencers in Insta-world!
Many of the mature age who take themselves way to seriously in that every post they make is a “like-to-know-it” excuse to shill. They will post what they will wear in the summer, what they are wearing to the gynecologist, on the gold course, at the movies, in the dressing rooms—and they happily tell you to click-click-click whilst handing out inspiration for the day.

Only one blogger/Instagrammer has mentioned Ukraine. Susan from “Une Femme D’un Certain Age” blog. The lone one. And I have to say, I was so grateful that she posted about Ukraine. She’s stand up.
The only influencer I follow to mention Ukraine. She’s now basically the ONLY mature influencer I now follow! Thank you Susan!
Look. I realize I’m opinionated. And that’s fine. This is my blog and I can say whatever the **** I want to say. My opinions are mine. If someone doesn’t like my opinions, they can start their own blog.
But it just makes me wonder—why, in this present time of world crisis that could escalate into something larger and more horrific, aren’t these influencers toning it down? One influencer post about 20 stories a day on stuff she’s accumulated and stuff she’s shilling.

This whole Ukraine thing has changed the way I’m looking at life right now.
The freedom we have can be taken away from us in a flash—and don’t think it couldn’t happen. There was Hitler and the Nazis. Trump tried to overthrow the election—in true dictator style. He’s also best buddies with Putin. Think about that.
Hitler. The role model for Putin and that orange guy.

I’m thankful for my little ishkabibble. We saw him last weekend and he’s not a baby anymore. He’s a big boy. Walking, and blabbing and laughing. He’s such a joy and I want him to grow up with freedom. And he is our future. Our future for freedom.

Putin is purely evil and while I wake up every day distressed about what he’s doing in Ukraine, I am encouraged by the way that so many governments and corporations are uniting against the Russian government. I might add that our problem is not with the Russian people and I hope there won’t be a general backlash against Russians as they’re pretty much as helpless to stop Putin as we were to stop the craziness that was Trump.
Yes, shut the hell up and pay your $6 per gallon for gas, and be happy that you can do so in a country that is not being bombed by a power-crazed dictator.

I am soooo sick of bloggers shilling their clothes, 200 buck casual dresses, gummies for health, (I am a cancer survivor, follow your dam doctor’s advice for Pete’s sake!) 400 dollar eye creams. One of the many reasons to not follow social media, or at least to not take it seriously.

I’ve actually seen a number of bloggers mention Ukraine and that is great. I’m sitting here figuring out how to send money to a foreign exchange student we had from Ukraine a few years ago. She just fled the country and is trying to get into the Czech Republic (Czechia). What a disaster this is.
You are someone to admire, someone with substance and compassion with a fun dose of humor, expletives included. On one hand I understand the delicate balance the US has to keep to avoid escalation and complete annihilation of the world, but it is so maddening to see us not cover their airspace. I fear that the more Putin’s “training exercise” or whatever tame wording he is using to tell the Russian people the rationale for being in Ukraine, is unsuccessful, the more he is going to ratchet up the intensity of the fight with no regard for how many people are killed, including young Russian soldiers. And for what – the award for being the biggest, baddest, vicious killer leader in modern history? To see the brave and determined looks on the faces of the women and children as they leave the only homeland they’ve known with no assurance that they will ever be able to return, and if they do return, their former homes are likely to have been destroyed is a sobering sight. They have to be the strongest, most resilient people in the free world. And Mr. Zelensky’s fiery passion and tremendous leadership would make Dale Carnegie seem milquetoast. Pray for Ukraine!

I feel so for the Ukrainians. I pray to God that we can figure things out without creating WWIII. Such a mess.
Gas prices are just the beginning. America is gonna have to break the energy habit, get off the fossil fuel teat. Fracking and electric cars are answers but ultimately they are not solutions.
Best I can figure, we live in a crazy world with a crazy cast of characters. I liked Putin better when he was the shirtless foil on SNL. I wish the Pied Piper would go away, give up. Or at least his followers would get smart.

Thank you Barbara, I have a big mouth and I’m not stopping here either. I realize many are against fracking but it needs to be revisited. It could be a solution for now. Same with electric automobiles–but also, does every family with a child over the driving age need a car for everyone who drives? We don’t need all those cars.
I’m hoping at some point the government has an overhaul of public transportation in this country. Outside of major cities, public transportation is absolutely awful.
When I lived in NYC it was great. Subway or bus. Or walk. I’m rambling. Sorry.

The images we are watching on TV or the internet are just heartbreaking. We have three little ishkabibbles and I am sickened when I heard of the bombing of the maternity hospital in Mariupol Ukraine today. For three weeks in our city we were treated to a ‘Freedom Convoy’ parked in our downtown area. Blocking streets, harassing residents, honking their bloody truck horns 24/7 etc. All because they felt their ‘freedoms’ were being trampled on because of Covid mandates to wear masks or get vaxxed or show proof of the vax when going to restaurants. I guess if those things hadn’t been mandated many of the ‘free dumb warriors’ would be dead or fighting for their lives in an ICU somewhere. What I am saying is those idiots have no real concept of freedom lost. Being asked to wear a mask while you are grocery shopping is absolutely NOTHING compared to having to run from your home into an uncertain future with little but your life.
We try to only watch the news once a day and ensure that it’s a from a trusted provider like CTV or CBC/RadioCanada. There are a few bloggers who have commented on the war or made suggestions for donations but it just seems like it’s very ‘token’ and they don’t mention it again. There are two who have consistently commented on it, Janice from The Vivienne Files with her lovely tributes woven into her fashion blogs and Mary Ann Pickett from Classic Casual Home who seems to be truly upset and continues to comment on her posts. It must be a fine line though. A blogger wants to comment but might be unsure if they will turn off readers.no worries though, from reading some of the comments on various blogs there is either strong support or it goes right over their heads.
I had a dear friend whose Ukrainian actor parents escaped from the Nazi’s into France. His pregnant mother and his Dad had escaped from a train bound for Germany when they were found by a Nazi soldier. He was about to shoot them when he noticed her big belly and started to cry as his wife was pregnant too, he told them to stay hidden. Because of that small moment of empathy my friend was able to be born in France. When more human feeling was shown by a Nazi soldier to terrified young parents than was shown to the pregnant and new moms today In Mariupol the world is indeed turning into a s**t. show. 🙏🏼🇺🇦 🙏🏼

My dad was in the army during World War II and I would think he would be horrified by Americans shouting Putin Putin like the Nazi shouted Hitler Hitler! It seems our country and parts of the world the values have turned upside down. I know many of your readers are about my age, so I know they also grew up with parents and relatives that served in the armed forces then and probably heard of the horrors of war. They may have had a parent that survived WW II whether it was in Europe or the Pacific and heard of the suffering and privations they endured. We are very close to living that again. God protect and save Ukraine!
Ann, I have many uncles (being from a large family) who fought in WWII. My husband was born in Paris during the Nazi Occupation. The horror stories I’ve heard first hand from his family would make you blood curdle. And it IS happening again. I’ve said all along that Trump was a little Hitler. He is. Look at his supporters. As I live a two hour plane ride from Kyiv, I can’t but help thinking about Ukraine every waking moment of my day. Sweden doesn’t have a large Ukraina population like Poland or Germany, but we are still preparing to greet the refugees who come here. In 2015 we received 200 000 refugees from Syria and Afghanistan (you have to remember we are only 10 million in this country, so it’s a lot) but it also means that we are prepared to take on a lot of people, we know it is possible to fix beds, schools etc. And they are welcome to come!
I have donated to the Red Cross and UNHCR as I know they are on the ground in Ukraine, I was thinking about Doctors Without Borders, but then realized they had halted their action in Ukraine for a bit. I even considered traveling to Poland to help (its just a ferry-ride away) but decided I might be more useful here when the refugees come.
We should be grateful Trump isn’t the President anymore, he would do absolutely nothing to stop Putin.However there is another side to this, as Sweden has sent lots of materials to Ukraine, including military equipment (first time since 1939 we are aiding military action, then it was our neighbour Finland) and Putin has threatened all countries that help Ukraine. Especially Sweden and Finland. I guess Putin thinks that we are weak because both countries have female Prime Ministers, but he should think again. For the first time in my 63-year long life I am scared that we are going to war, and I am slowly preparing for it, as is a lot of the country. We have been told to stock up on food and some other necessities, people are checking where their air-raid-shelters are and yes, I’m filled with dread and sadness as I walk around with my list of things to buy (where do you buy a camping kitchen these days? they are sold out…) and discuss with my friends where the safest place would be to stay if the nukes are hitting us (answer:nowhere).
Angelin2014, When this all started a few weeks ago with Ukraine, it brought to mind something that happened here where I live. I googled it to make sure (summer 2021) there was a Russian spy ship trawling the waters(staying in the international waters range) off the island of Kauai. On Kauai they have the Barking Sands missile range and at the time the military were doing some tests & had to scramble the codes while that ship was around. This was not the first time, as they were here in the Hawaiian islands in 2016. Putin’s tentacles are certainly wide ranging. Take care.

I agree with your comments. What is happening in Ukraine is horrific. And many on the right here lost their moral bearings so long ago that I wonder if they will ever find their way back. But, candidly, I also wonder why our voices were not raised as loudly when Russia bombed civilians and medical facilities in other countries, such as Syria. For me, I am ashamed I was not as outraged then.
We need an army of the world’s special forces. Those effing Russians are commiting serious war crimes. Innocent Children? Those soldiers should be hung by their short hairs.

My heart is broken. The horrendous atrocities being committed in Ukraine terrify and threaten the entire world. Putin saw a chance to exert his power at a time when he perceived weakness. Our current President is the reason Putin felt emboldened. As much as you despise Trump, (and speak as vulgar about him, and his supporters, as you believe him to be) nothing like this happened during his presidency. Only fourteen months in office, our current President has caused us to be energy dependent, (on Russia! -until yesterday when he imposed sanctions) inflation is higher than it’s been in 40 years, his hasty withdrawal in Afghanistan took the lives of many innocent people, including 13 American soldiers, and the war on drugs and crime in our country is at an all time high. I realize we have different political views, and thank God, we still have the right to free speech, but, I ask you, please tell me, what has this current President done to help better our country?

Biden is not the reason there is a war in Ukraine. In fact, if you watched his news conferences, Biden has publicly stood up to that monster Putin. And while Trump was President, Putin was carefully assessing his “friendship” with him. Had Trump been reelected, we would be in far worse shape. Putin knew Trump was a coward and would never stand up to him.
Our current president, like Obama, has been stymied by the Republicans. Republicans such as Robert Regan, who is running for a State House Seat in Michigan, who told his daughters if they were raped to “lie back and enjoy it”. And you call me vulgar? Your Trump refers to you and I and all women as a p***y –and I’m not talking about the kitten. He has also publicly referred to some women as “fat” and has also, on news footage, made fun of the physically disabled. Those two women heckling our current president—you don’t think they are vulgar? My word—they are an exercise in vulgarity.
Biden, now that he has imposed sanctions, including sanctions on energy, shouldn’t be blamed for that situation either. Our gas crisis is due to Putin. PUTIN. And it is affecting every country in the world. I’m hoping that Biden starts looking into Venezuela for oil, or we can begin to go electric. Personally, I don’t really care how much money we have to pay at the gas pump. It’ll be temporary (let us all hope) until this blows over. What about the Arab oil-producing countries? They remain silent because they are chummy with Putin and they make tons of money because the price of oil went up.
You want to talk about Afghanistan? Bush and Cheney got us into that one. Republicans. In 2011. Twenty years of young American troops—both men and women, killed, maimed and mentally destroyed. Twenty years. Every president after Bush vowed to get us out but Biden actually did the deed. Yes. People were killed during the exit but it is a very small amount compared to the numbers of twenty years. The worst is after giving the people of Afghanistan the tools to fight back, they cowardly allowed the Taliban to take over—without a fight. The people of Ukraine are fighting back. And fighting back strongly. They are true patriots.
And while I cover the subject of Patriotism, let’s talk about January 6, 2021. The Insurrection. Capitol Police officers were murdered. By Trump supporters who attempted a Coup d’état because “Trump told them to”. Yes. Trump the bone-spurred draft-dodging coward incited that horrific event. Those animals were not patriots. They are against everything this country stands for.
And the vaccine. Trump could have done a great thing had he encouraged Americans to get vaccinated. He chose, instead, to tell Americans to drink bleach. He and his cohorts felt that our freedom was taken away for having to wear a mask. A simple mask. Let me tell you something—the people of the Ukraine right now—there’s a lot more at stake for their freedom than a mask.
Remember, Biden was elected by over 81,284,000 votes. Despite the gerrymandering and fake news, Biden won that election fair and square. Beating Trump by over 7 million votes. In other words, over 50 percent of Americans voted for Biden. Numbers don’t lie– and only a childish, immature buffoon would go on more than a year later whining about the election being unfair—despite the gerrymandering of the republicans.
Inflation. Yes. We do have an inflation issue. Are you forgetting that COVID caused companies to close—many permanently. Factories closed down. Production ceased on items from home appliances to automobiles. And worldwide logistics became a nightmare. The economy came to a halt. And as we scratch out of it, it’s only normal that inflation hits us. That isn’t Biden’s fault. In fact, had Trump been more Covid-savvy, and made an attempt to Americans to get vaccinated, more companies could have been saved. People would not have died. Millions of lives and jobs could have been spared.
Today employment is at an all-time high and unemployment low. Hmmmm. I guess my Joe is doing a good job.
And speaking of good. Joe and Jill are a wonderful example of how a President and First Lady should be. Dr. Biden is a strong woman always visible and always at his side supporting him. Whereas your Trump didn’t even know how to hold a Bible, Joe is a very religious man whose spirituality is key in his being. I can’t say that for the other guy.
Biden is on track to repair our infrastructure, he’s literally ended a 20-year war, he’s largely responsible for we Americans getting our Covid vaccinations and booster shots. He’s trying to bring our great country back from the damage that last president caused.
And now, Biden is working with the other countries of NATO to stop the evil known as Putin.
While I am extremely grateful that you show empathy toward the people of Ukraine, I’m daunted that you feel Biden is not a good President of these United States. I’m also quite amused you find my words vulgar when that thing has said and done far worse.

Brilliant and right with every word, thanks Catherine. We have a friend who is married to a Pole and lives in Warsaw. She drove to the border, collected three people – 3 year old, her mother and grandmother, and they will be there as long as they need to. They have relatives in England and as soon as the UK government stops dilly dallying, hope to get visas to come here. My friend says that it seems that every Pole, no matter how small their living space, has opened their arms and hearts and offered a refugee a place of safety. There is so much good in the middle of all the evil.
Judy, I’m so glad that the Poles are assisting and really stepping up to help the Ukrainians. I’m hoping America welcomes a number of them. Although I am unable to house anyone, I would be welcoming them with clothing, food and a bit of money. My heart goes out to them. XOXOXOXO

Thank you, thank you for articulating what my feelings. It has been so frustrating for me to watch what is going on in Ukraine and feel so helpless. I am angry when I read the comments of people, primarily Trump supporters, on social media as well as the elected Republicans in D.C. Where is the empathy and compassion for the people of Ukraine. To witness the destruction of their country, innocent lives lost daily in order to protect their democracy makes me so sad for them. Imagine we have people in this country who thought wearing a mask infringed on their freedoms. Ha, ***holes.
Toni don’t even get me started. I had to delete an instragam comment earlier today because someone replied to the bombing with laughing emojis. WTF?? I honestly feel that all those Americans supporting Trump and Putin should be placed in planes and dropped off in Russia. Under Putin’s regime let’s see how bold they are. They would only WISH for a face mask after what they would have to live with. I can’t even anymore..XOXOXO
Such a heartfelt post and so on the button what the heck is the world coming to? I think any contributions we can make are good, but also more than once if possible – suffering doesnt end overnight. It is all pretty overwhelming. That said I am glad you are going to post your reviews soon as we need to stay who we are and stay looking for positivity and things that make life good. There is good in the world we need to seek it and connect it up and drown this evil as best we can xxx

I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO stinking happy to read earlier today about that mom in the Ukraine. I got very emotional about that and I’m continuing to hope and pray this thing is over soon. I’m also praying that Putin is stopped–but you know, the bad seem to live forever. LOL. Well, yeah, she should move to reading a blog more suited to her political needs. It’s funny because I don’t post often about political subjects, but when I do every single reader knows that I lean toward the left rather than the right. And I’m not even an extreme liberal either.
The fact she refers to me as “vulgar” is so beyond any rational thinking. Those two women belittling and heckling Biden SHOULD have been put in jail. If they lived in Russia and did that to Putin, their last meal would have been sprinkled with poison. And lest we forget just how vulgar Trump is? How many women did he “pay” to do the bouncy-bouncy with? Huh? What about that wife of his who loves to pose naked? I can’t even with those people.
But what REALLY kills me is that this is my blog and I can say whatever the f*** (Lent–I’m being so good) I want. If you don’t like my politics, there is no need to argue with me on MY turf. Just don’t come here. I don’t follow most blogs anymore because they are rife with Jesus freaks (fake ones) and Trumpers. Why would I read anything by those folks? It’s like the unfollows from my instagram. I can’t look at these women who post 20 of the same posts every day to buy old-lady clothes or horrible sneakers. I’m done.LOL! XOXOXOXO

My hubby is of Ukrainian descent; family originally from Lviv. His heart breaks watching the beautiful cities being systematically destroyed. Believe the NATO leaders are not being more aggressive in fighting Putin as they fear a possible nuclear holocaust. Megalomaniac Putin is pure evil. He would do it, willing to destroy our world. Wonder if the woman calling your comments vulgar found it ‘vulgar’ when the degenerates, Boebert and Greene, shouted at Biden speaking of his deceased son, Beau.
Oh, the glee Putin must have felt while watching our Capitol stormed by Trump supporters. It sickens that people like AG Barr are NOW coming out of the woodwork to denounce Trump. No one had the guts to speak up while he was in office. Lowly cowards. Trump met with Putin behind closed doors. They are both like something you stepped on in the dog park. The unholy trinity: Hitler, Trump, and Putin. Thank you for saying all the things so many of us are feeling. Blessings.
How did I miss this post? I am so worried that this is the beginning of something really dire. I cannot, for the life of me, understand the people on the right who applaud Putin…including the orange turd. He should have been prosecuted for high treason, but that won’t happen because his followers would go after these who would bring him up on charges. I fear for this country so much…not physically per se…but morally. How in the hell did we get here? Never mind, I know! I’ve made donations and will make more. Zelensky is amazing…when was the last time we saw a leader in the trenches? 1783? Thanks for always being you and saying what we all try to.
