I Am A Shitholer

What’s in a word?  Plenty.  Especially when it comes from the President of these United States.

When I was young, the word “shit” was out of boundaries.   Shit, along with a few other choice words which I shall not print, was considered a “curse” word.  I think in the South it referred to as “cussing”.

And because the president of the United States uses this word to describe other countries and continents–what kind of message is this giving to children?  That’s it’s okay to use that language at a young age?  No. It isn’t–and that comes from gutter mouth me!

If one of the nuns who taught me had ever caught me so much at mouthing that word silently, I would have been slapped across the face.  Hell, I had been slapped across the face by Sr. Mary Josephita for giving an answer in a tone of voice she did not like.

You don’t mess with the nuns.  Never!

If I had uttered the word “shit” in front of my mother as a child, I would have gotten a slap across the face and a bar of soap in my mouth for dessert.  Hell, she slapped me when I was thirty years old for dropping the “eff” bomb in front of her—at her house.  Apparently, I wasn’t allowed to use that language in her home—at thirty years old.

My mother may have looked sweet–but I didn’t mess around with her!  No foul language in her presence. At any age!

 Not much shocks me.

Seriously–what came out of that imbecile’s mouth yesterday gave me the shock of my life!

But yesterday, when I heard and read that the man who was elected president, with the help of the Russians, referred to the continent of Africa, along with Haiti, as “shithole” countries, I damn near shit my panties.

Let’s take a look at this word—shall we?  Shithole:

The president of the United States likened an entire continent, along with its countries, as well as other countries to this ramshackle house that is in a very horrific state of disrepair and condemnation.

Now—I’m sure many of us have used this word in conversation. I know I have. Here’s an example of when I’ve used this word:

I’ve used the words to my kids when they were younger:  “Hey. Clean up your rooms”.  “Whady’a think this is?”  “A shithole”?

I was referring to an untidy mess filled with objects.  I wasn’t referring to a country or continent of people.

However, for a person in the public eye, and for a (fake) leader of our America to have the audacity to call any other country or continent on this earth a “shithole” is so vile, vulgar, ignorant and disgusting. It literally turns my stomach.

Dr. King, Scott Joplin, Amédé Ardoin, Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou all have roots stemming from Africa—in “Shithole” countries in the “Shithole” continent that the president referred to.

I am a firm believer that had Dr. King lived, he would have been President–and should have.

OMG. This guy!  Scott Joplin.  In my opinion, he is THE best American composer ever!  EVER!

Rosaparks.jpg

And Rosa Parks.  Fierce and empowering. And all had roots going back to Shithole countries!

Ludovic Lamonthe, Garcelle Beauvais, Wyclef Jean, Lee Holdridge—all Haitians.  These talented people all from a country the president of the USA deems a “Shithole” country.

Haitian composer Ludovic Lamonthe.  A man of great talent but shithole roots!

This man is an absolute embarrassment.

Does he not realize that our beautiful America is a melding pot? Our America has welcomed all from various “shithouse” countries.

My grandparents came to the USA to seek a better life than what they had in Ireland.

My Irish Immigrant grandparents.  Thomas and Margaret Wynne.  Lower middle working class–everything that the president of the United States despises.  Did I ever mention that my grandfather used to live in South Africa? He’s shithole squared!

Ireland is a country that has had its fair share of suffering.  Held captive by the British, destroyed by the great famine—and when the Irish came to America they were called “Dirty Irish Catholics” by the Anglo-Americans. They were called apes and drunks.  And mics.

This was the truth…

The American Protective Association was a nativist organization established to promote bigotry against Irish Catholic immigrants. Its member would not hire Irish immigrants or vote for Irish-American candidates for office. The No Irish Need Apply signs were prominently displayed in many businesses in American cities. Laws restricting the poor from coming to America in the 1880s to prevent Irish immigration.

Sound familiar?  Some things never change.  The Catholics are still hated by the extreme right faux-Christians.

And another thing.  My grandmother, the shitholer immigrant, worked her ass off.  When my grandfather took ill from a serious injury in World War 1 and lost a lung, my grandmother worked nights for decades cleaning office buildings in Manhattan.  She lived to be 98 years young and I can’t think of any woman that I admire more.  She was a rock and a great, great woman! I’m proud to be a shitholer granddaughter!

I am a mic.  And I am sure that had the president of these United States been around when the Irish immigrated he would have referred to Ireland and her struggles as a “Shithole”

My husband, a Frenchman, is an immigrant.  The Americans liberated France during the second World War.  I’m pretty sure that the president of these United States would refer to France as a “Shithole”—especially since the American troops saved the French from Hitler.  Remember—The President of the United States is a Draft-Dodging Coward—so even if he had been of age to fight in the second World War, he would have gotten daddy to pay his way out.

Dany and Evie Lartigue.  As Dany told me before he died, the War destroyed his family. If it had been up to the present president, he would have let the Nazi’s take over!

My husband is a frog. And I can pretty-much bet that the president of these united states refers to the French in a discriminatory way.

My Frog Prince!  I’m honored to be the wife of an immigrant!

My ex-in laws, whose roots and family are from Warsaw—well, I’m sure the president would have referred to them as “Dumb Polacks” from the “Shithole” country of Poland. And these were some of the hardest working, blue-collar people I’ve ever known.

Alphonse and Helen Urbanski.  Alphie represented the USA in WW II. He was stationed in Bora Bora. You can bet your bottom dollar that Donnie the Draft Dodger would NEVER put a military uniform on–only for military school. What a coward.  The girl in the top right was dancing for the troops.

He showed his true colors and bigoted personality a long time ago. It’s just that yesterday, we received validation of what a truly hateful man he is.

He is anti-American.  He goes against the grain of everything my beloved America stands for.  The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

Lady Liberty stands tall because she will always represent what America has always stood for.

Immigrants from “Shithole” countries have built our great country and made her what she was and is—despite the one in the white house and his cronies.

I am an American.  And today, I feel that I will have to try harder and harder to stress to my foreign friends and family—and those who don’t know me, to let them know, we are all not like the  leader that is in the White House. Nor are the majority of us like his supporters.

The majority of Americans are kind. And helpful. And hard-working. And decent. And good.

And we are also a country of “Shitholers” because our roots come from countries that have been referred to as “shithole” countries at one time or another–even the present.

This morning as I got dressed, I took a good look at what I was wearing. In my loafers, and plaid shirt, and my denim jeans, and my straight hair, I just looked so “All American.”

My All-American Look—or is it?

Then I noticed something—my hair was made in Indonesia.  My jeans in Mexico. My shirt in China.  My loafers in El Salvador. And my nails were applied by a technician from Vietnam.

All what would be referred to as “Shithole” countries.  And so, I thank the “Shithole” countries for giving me that All-American look today.  I couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you for giving me the hair I never had.  Thank you for dressing me up in clothing that I love.  Thank you for making me feel and look great!

I am an American. I am the blood of  working class immigrants. I am a shitholer.

I am an American. I am the product of Irish Immigrants. I am a Shitholer. Are You?

About Catherine

Far from perfect, but enjoying life as a non-perfect and flawed individual at 60 years young. I'm still wondering what I'll be when I grow up! The characters in my life's screenplay include my better half. He is a refined Frenchman who grew up in Paris and summered in St. Tropez. I grew up in Long Island and summered in Long Island. I am not refined. My three grown children are also a big part of my life. For their sake, they happily live where their careers have taken them! But I can still mother them from a distance! I write about the mundane. I write about deeply shallow issues. But whatever I write or muse about--it'll always be a bit on the humorous and positive side! It's all good!

Being from Scandinavia I guess I should be counting my blessings, as we are obviously “good” countries…Can´t help but thinking that your President seems very influenced by his German past, if you get my drift…
These days I often have a reason to defend the middle-class American and remind people around me that not every American voted for this lunatic, and that there is also a very strong anti-Trump movement in America. But I will not set foot on US soil until he´s gone…So please please try and get someone else on the job!

PS Most Swedes emigrating to Minnesota and other scandi-parts of US came from dirt-poor country villages looking for a better life. They were probably shitholers too…

    • Catherine says:

Hi Angelin, What others also need to know that due to the warped electoral collage and the gerrymandering of the Republican Party, Trump did NOT win the popular vote. We are not a true democracy here. If we were, Hillary would have been sitting in the Oval office.
His Germanic genes are hand-in-hand with Hitler. Now that Hitler is dead, he’s kissing up to the next best vile thing–Putin. I’m embarrassed by the leadership in my country. XOXOXOXO!!!!

  5. hipchick66 says:

First, let’s take a moment to realize that the President of the United States called Africa a ‘country’. POTUS doesn’t know the difference between a continent and a country, and thinks that the continent of Africa is a country. Second, Trump has always been an arrogant, ignorant jerk who is a racist. His remarks did not surprise me. The fact that he was elected and still in Office is what surprises me. Third, his own father came from Germany and his mother from Scotland. But to him, that’s okay because they are white. Just like Norway. Someone needs to tell that turd that no one from Norway wants to come here because it’s better there! By the way, I love this post, thanks for writing it! Xoxo

    • Catherine says:

Hi Lori! Yeah. At first I was rolling off the sofa laughing when he referred to Africa as a “country”. What an imbecile! I’m astounded that all the money Donnie’s daddy spent on his education went down the toilet. Oh..I’m not shocked that he is still President because he has all those slimy Republican congressmen with their noses up his bottom. We need a complete political renovation!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  6. Very cool/neat historical background information. Sorry you are a “shitholer” though.
Oh well…. great read anyways haha ✌🏼

    • Catherine says:

Hi Joseph. I’m proud to be a shitholer. Don’t be sorry for me. I wear my immigrant roots very well and proudly!!! XOXOXO!!!

      • That’s awesome! I was just being goofy, no disrespect. Be proud, wave your flag. Our Prez is an ignorant child… (Just my opinion based on his actions)

      • Catherine says:

Hey Joseph. It’s cool! I know you weren’t being disrespectful!!! I should have realized you were being goofy–see, I get so upset with the prez that I lose my sense of humor!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  7. lifelessons says:

So disgraceful to have such a worm of a man in any public office, let alone POTUS. Bravo for your thoughts on the matter. We know who the real shithole is, of course.

    • Catherine says:

Thanks Judy. I can’t help it. I just cannot keep my mouth shut on this. As a law-abiding citizen who votes in every election, I’ve earned my right to free speech and he is as vile and disgusting as they come. Those who support him should be ashamed and embarrassed and should not be considered true American Patriots!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  8. Toni says:

I couldnt agree with you more. Both my parents were immigrants from Italy who came here, and in both cases leaving their parents and most of this siblings behind, so that they could build a better life for themselves. I am beyond angry and sickened by the man who occupies the People’s House. I just feel frustrated that some of those who voted for him aren’t finding anything wrong with what he said. Just what will it take to open up the those minds to see just how dangerous he really is?

    • Catherine says:

Hi Toni. I feel your sentiments as well. I’m astounded that many of the Republican Congress are not speaking out against him. It’s because they only care about themselves and we the people. Our nation is in big trouble and let’s hope things change after the mid-term elections!!! XXOXOXO!!!!

  9. fiona says:

Hear Hear! I knew you would write a post on this Cathe.
Just as not every Brit voted for Brexit, we know that not every American voted for Trump. Seriously, I can’t believe he’s going to be around much longer. I saw today on the BBC news that he’s declined a visit to Britain to open the new US Embassy blaming his decision on Obama selling it for ‘peanuts’ and moving it from it’s present location in central London but this was planned when Bush was in office. The general consensus seems to be that he knows he is not popular here so won’t risk coming to face protests. What a coward this vile excuse of a man is.
    xx

    • Catherine says:

Fiona. You knew it. I swear I try so hard to remain non-political and deeply shallow, but sometimes, my passion overtakes my deep shallowness and I burst at the seams! He didn’t decline–he knows the majority of Brits despise him. He’s a coward of the worst kind–remember, his daddy paid off doctors with a lot of money to keep Donnie The Draft Dodging Coward out of the Vietnam War. He’s filth. XOXOXOXO!!!!

  10. edebock says:

Wow! So very well said. Please know that most of us in your neighbour to the north agree with you wholeheartedly.

    • Catherine says:

Thank you edebock!!!! Oh..trust me, I know. If a corporation in Canada would hire me, I would be wearing a Mapleleaf’s Jersey in a minute!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  11. Colleen says:

The biggest shithole in the USA is the Oval Office at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Get out and vote out the R’s in 2018. That is the only way to get back our national dignity. Thanks for your post.

  12. Sharon Daly says:

So proud of you, Catherine. Great post. BTW, my grandmother, adoughter of Irish immigrants, also cleaned office buildings.

  13. Elizabeth says:

Thank you for this post. While nothing can make me feel better about the idiot in the White House or the friends, neighbors and fellow Americans who voted for him, reading your post has reminded me that I’m not alone. Surrounded as I am by ultra-conservative, racist, wealthy, self-satisfied, unfeeling and uncaring supporters of that man in my everyday life, there ARE people who feel as I do.

    • Catherine says:

Hi Elizabeth. I strongly believe there are more of us them them. Remember, he was elected due to the lies and collusion with Russia. Also remember he was elected due to the gerrymandering of districts by the Republican Party. Proving that our American political system is not a democracy. Hopefully in our lifetime, there will be changes and America will once progress. XOXOXOXO

  14. Bobbi says:

Agree with you 100%. Predudice is strange though, people always seem to try to find someone else to knock.
My Norwegian grandparents homesteaded in Minnesota, I still remember seeing their original log cabin, falling down by then, but still on the property. Remember using their outhouse too…ugh.
My Swedish great grandparents came to Kansas City to escape religious prejudice, they were Baptist in a Lutheran country! My grandparents weren’t really happy about my dad marrying a Lutheran.
My own family is filled with open minded liberals like you. My grandkids have done the KC AIDES walk since they were 4 and 5.
I get so disgusted by the giant orange hair ball that I try not to mention his name.
When I get too upset about him and how his main goal is to undo the fine things Obama did I tend to daydream about the book that the tv show DESIGNATED SURVIVOR is probably derived from.Tom Clancy had Jack Ryan in that position when the President was giving the State of the Union address when a Japanese pilot flew his plane into Congress.
I hope I can’t get arrested for a daydream, but there aren’t many of them there who give me hope. Warren, Sanders, Feinstein, who else?

    • Catherine says:

Bobbi. Al Franken also gave me hope. But the way his very own party turned against him turned my stomach. His party equated Franken’s dopey, sophomoric antics to those of Trump and Moore. I’m still very much upset by that witch hunt–but that’s another issue. Sanders would have made a great president because he is a proponent of “we the people” and he was thought of as too “socialist”. Well, that one in the white house is too facist and hitleresque for me. A change has got to come!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  15. Love this post! I totally agree with everything you said! My blog today was about this very thing and I am amazed that this language would be acceptable to anyone! Thanks for being so honest…we all need to stand up and speak up against this complete insanity!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Suzanne. I saw your post and commented!!! Seriously–what do kids say to their parents when they find out what the president said–do they tell their parents the president said it so I can?? Believe me, I am NOT easily shocked, but my crossed eyes almost straightened out after THAT one!!! XOXOXOXOXOXO!!!!

  16. Vivella says:

Trump forgets Africa is a massive continent and not a country. There are 54 countries in Africa and they all differ from one another! I have a friend who has moved to Zambia and she says it is so safe, they love it there. I also live in a so-called ‘shithole’ Cape Town, South Africa which is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and I have traveled to different countries in Europe, to Canada and the USA and still prefer to live here. Yes we have political problems (i.e. corruption, crime etc) but not a day goes by that I don’t feel blessed to live in this beautiful place. The people are friendly, the sun shines most of the year and the food, wine and scenery are fantastic. Every country has it’s problems for sure. You should see the social media here in SA and the comments going around about us being called a ‘shithole’. At first I felt offended but basically anyone who uses that word on a podium in a speech has no class, just cringe-worthy. Thanks for the blog post!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Vivella. My grandfather lived in South Africa for a while when he was very young–I think 19 years old and moved back to Ireland because finding work was difficult. He said South Africa was, in fact, beautiful and the people he met were very generous. Please tell your friends that not all Americans believe what our president says. Give them my post to prove it. He is an embarrassment to both our country and the world. OMG. I can only imagine what the world is saying about us. We will be watching the French news in a little while. I’m shaking my head. Thank you for realizing that we are all not like him!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  17. LA CONTESSA says:

    YEP ME TOO…….>SCOTCH IRISH!
    HE HAS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!
    XOXOXO

  18. Lynn McClain says:

I’m a shitholer in the first degree – my great grandmother was African American. Thank you for your thoughtful and amazing post. I’m 73 and grew up seeing “No Irish Need Apply” and “Colored Fountains,” etc. I was so proud to join the civil rights movement, thinking we would change our world forever. Unfortunately, not so much… tRump, the great destructor, is a total disgrace for his ignorance and lack of integrity and empathy. We can only hope that sane people will triumph again.

    • Catherine says:

OMG Lynn. That word “colored” still sends shivers up my spine. I remember being a teen during the “hippie years” and those were the years when our youth was outspoken and ferocious in their quest to change things. What happened? Where are the young rebels who will be tomorrow’s leaders? You know, I thought we would progress as a people and instead, due to the selfish, racist politicians in the Congress and their Russian puppet, we have regressed. It is so pathetic. Thank you for your thoughts !!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  19. Juliet says:

Well said, this Kiwi has Shetland, Wales and Scotland to thank for her ancestors – when I got to Shetland many years ago, I saw the family cottage, although cottage sounds way better than it was – those people were poor, horrendously poor, the Welsh side – also, and the Scottish bit… As my dad used to say if you are not being “done to” be careful you are not one of those people “doing to” and quite frankly I would rather come from people who hadn’t got where they were by stepping on others, not paying tax, dodging their duties etc. Coming from poverty is no shame, it means you or your family WORKED and tried hard rather than had it handed to them on a plate.

Some of my family were pretty against me marrying gravel-guy as he is English, but who on earth chose their parents or where they were born, ridiculous even thinking about judging people on their origins that they have no control over.

    • Catherine says:

LOL.Juliet. I almost married a young man whose parents hated me because I was Catholic and Irish. My father couldn’t stand him because he was of British “extraction”. Our breakup was basically due to parents–but it all worked out in the end. No hard feelings. Judging someone on their background is wrong. Judging someone because they are a complete racist is not wrong. Trump is a racist. Period! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  20. Nan Lyons says:

WOW! SO many points you make that I sometimes feel you and I are the SAME PERSON!! I, too, am the product of proud Irish immigrants. My grandmother came to the US in 1900 at the age of 14, sponsored by her older sister. She worked as a maid and faced tremendous prejudice. But she didn’t let anything stop her! People, we need to remember the Golden Rule. Stop hating!!
And btw, that picture of a “shithole” happens to be of a building in Brush Park, Detroit. My adopted city is changing by the day – check out what’s happening in Motown now! Even a “shithole” can come back to Glory! smh – Trump is a Chump.

    • Catherine says:

Nan! Most of us came from very humble roots–and that’s what is so frightening–this so-called “leader” doesn’t recognize this–and his party does not try to put a stop to his vile behavior! OH..I wonder if that is one of the houses that Nicole Curtis has brought back to life. I am such a huge fan of hers….XOXOXOXOXO!!!@!

  21. charlies30 says:

Well said Catherine, I’m a Brit and that’s embarrassing enough right now but for you guys….!!! Hang on in there in the name of sanity, peace and respect for humankind. Our very best to you ‘n yours, long live the level-headed.

    • Catherine says:

Hey Charlie! I’m trying to hang in there. Earlier today I was deemed a racist because I disagree with Trump. I was actually called out for disrespecting him by my words. This–from a “woman’s group”. I swear to God, these idiot women are so offended and politically correct–they should go back to being barefoot and pregnant. And I”m not sorry for my words. It’s disgusting that ANY woman would defend such a filthy vile pig. XOXOXOXO!!!

      • vavashagwell says:

It’s mind boggling, isn’t it? I have a friend who is an avid Trump supporter and let me just say, there have been numerous times I’ve thought about axing the friendship. Currently we have mutually agreed to not discuss politics, but in the back of my mind, I wonder how on earth I can be friends with anyone who loves The RACIST in the Oval Office.

  22. Doreen says:

Fantastic post Catherine! Coming from a long line of Irish Catholic immigrants, I commend you.
    Cheers Doreen

    • Catherine says:

Thanks Doreen! I deeply appreciate all the support I can get after having a post banned from a “woman’s” site on FB today. Apparently some women don’t believe in discussing politics. They approve Trump and feel anything said against him is disrespectful while he can disrespect the world. We are regressing no progressing!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  23. Rose says:

It’s truly unbelievable! What a shame to have a FAKE president. Born with a silverspoon in his mouth, understanding NOTHING about real life struggles.
    Love your blog. Thank you!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Rose. That’s right. He is more fake than my hair or my tan or nails. And what’s worse is the support he receives from women! Silence is equivalent to agreeing with him–and plenty of women are remaining silent!!! XOXOXOXXO!!!

  24. Renee in Northern California says:

Yesterday, I had just gotten home after running a bunch of errands, sat down to eat something, turned on my computer…and BAM…I read what the “Orange” one said..I made a really loud gasp (seriously surprised myself)! I can’t believe the weirdo has the capacity to still shock me! How much longer can our country take his privileged SH#T?
Actually, he’d probably think the “county” that I live in is a “Shithole”. Afterall, he said “OUR” White House is a “Dump”! I wish for the day we can DUMP HIM!
Have a the best weekend!! I’ll be hitting the bottle early, LOL!!

    • Catherine says:

Renee. That’s right!!! I forgot about his calling the white house a dump. I think he likes the tackiness of the all that gold in Trump Tower. He’s so pathetic and so are his supporters. I can’t even anymore….XOXOXOXO!!!!

  25. F*BOMB, brilliant, Catherine! <3

  26. Deb M. says:

I AM a shitholer, and proud of it!!!! Well said, Catherine, I have NOTHING to add except keep up the good work and “go get ’em, tiger”!

    • Catherine says:

Thank you Deb. Today has been a whirlwind day for me. I’m so happy with the support from the community that read this blog on a regular basis. My post was deleted from a “woman’s site” because it offended a couple of self-righteous Trump supporters!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  27. Amelia says:

Unbelievable to hear such words coming out of the mouth of a president. Why is it that almost anytime he opened his mouth something offensive comes out of it? I can’t believe he’s still in office…:( I suggest that before he calls people or countries “sh.tholes”, he first takes a good look at the mirror. As always, sending love and props your way, dear Catherine. XOXO Amelia

    • Catherine says:

Yeah. Amelia. I saw your comment at just the right time. Get this. I shared this post on a “WOMAN’S over 50” FB page. A couple of the “members” whom I believe don’t even have blogs were offended. One started some nasty stuff with me so I commented back. Suffice it to say, I was the one who’s post was deleted. The entire thread was deleted. Now–I’m not upset that the post was deleted, I am a huge fan of the woman who started the site and she was incredibly supportive of me–that’s a great thing. But–what I was upset about was that the majority of comments were very supportive–and obviously the comments that weren’t were from Trump supporters. This blog post was also not put up to be political–it was posted because of the “language” Trump used–and it turned into a political post.
But what really kills me is WTF is going on with women? We want a voice. We want equality. We want respect–yet, when a serious topic is broached the overly sensitive take “offense”. So–what it comes down to is this. The blogging world for older women is really one in which they only want deeply shallowness and fuzzy and warm. And yeah –I do that–but I also have a voice and a brain.
Holy Cannoli. Look at how I used your comment to rant! I’m sorry honey, (don’t take offence that I called you honey–you are a friend of this blog!), but I’m just now really upset.
Anyway, Amelia. He IS offensive. And it is too bad that some women seem to accept this man’s vicious mouth and behavior!!! Thank you for allowing me to rant!!! XXOXOXO!!!!

      • Amelia says:

Catherine, “I got your six.” 🙂 Quoting my husband’s favorite saying. He was career military (retired). I tried not to say too much…my BP shoots up whenever I think about that hard face, shallow and crude man in the Oval Office. It goes without saying that I’m the biggest “shithole” among your readers. Claiming the title as a naturalized citizen (40+ yrs). I’m also of Polynesian and English stocks from one of those shithole countries. Half of my family have lived in this country for a very long time and the other half spreads out in those miniscule islands of the Polynesian triangle. I came to America to attend college in the early 70s which was still in the throngs of the women movement. I could never forget how hard those women pioneers fought for fair and equal treatment not only for women but also for people of color. And now a few decades later…oh holy crap, WTF! How soon do we forget!!!. If someone have told me way back when America will elect someone such as this one, I would not have believed it. Believe me dear Catherine when I said that I don’t comment often because I’m trying to spare you and your readers. As you can see my writing skill is crap. I could be your bobblehead for as many times I nod my head saying Amen…:) Please count me in as a kindred spirit. Have a great weekend! XOXO Amelia

      • Catherine says:

Amelia! I freaking love you! Thank you so much for having my six!! (Oh boy, now I’ll use that phrase IRL until everyone gets tired of me using it!). But it’s so true. Back then, the women’s movement MEANT something! Women were pioneers–and now, women seem to have taken a step back. They feel victimized yet will support the republican party and that idiot president. I cannot wrap my head around it. At all!!!! I do count you in as a kindred spirit..and enjoy this cold weekend my shithole buddy!!! XOXOXOXOXO!!!!

My grandson is such a shitholer with his Guyanese,French Canadian, Métis, Irish, Scottish,Anglo-Indian and, German Jewish heritage…AND he’s a Canadian citizen …because we are big time shitholer’s up here. Probably why all those brave Haitians crossed the border in the dead of winter ( many on foot) with little kids in tow to escape His Royal Trump Ass’s plans for turfing them out of the USA, a country they thought had welcomed them as refugees. Nope. One lady was so grateful for the polite Canadian Border guards who KINDLY assisted her over the border and CARRIED her child because…..shitholer’s help each other. We don’t care about what colour you are or what religion you practice. You want to cross over the border into our shithole country in the night, in the cold with your worldly belongings in a suitcase and your kid under your arm we are damn well going to politely assist you. That’s how shitholer’s role.
Honestly I have maintained since he took office that the man has dementia…now I just think he has a personality disorder. I can’t believe there are WOMEN out there who still think this guy in office is a good thing for your country.

    • Catherine says:

Oh –Momcat. See my comment to Amelia above–and you’ll really be flummoxed at the women who continue to support the filth of that man. Did you see last night his “people” paid off a porn star to be hush-hush about his affair whilst he was married to Melania? I can’t even….
But your little “shitholer” grandchild got the best of all ethnicities–and that is what’s great about the melding pot of culture. Canada. The more I hear about the Canadians, the more I wish I could magically have a CEO get in touch with me and offer me a position or offer Bonaparte a teaching position! You guys are progressing while we are regressing. I don’t know anymore. I just do not know…….XOXOXOXOXO!!!!

  29. Anne says:

    Amen! 👍

  30. Karen says:

Ah, but Cathe! Our POTUS said this is fake news and that he never used that term… what was it he said?? That he used strong language or similar language but not that term. I just can’t stand that man…and I have family members, too, that not only voted for him, but think he has done our country a big favor. I try not to think about Trump the RUMP, too much, because it makes my BP go up. Geez!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Karen!! Yeah–and not only has this filth normalized cursing (I’m really concerned about kids) but he’s normalized lying. What. Ever. Happened. To. Values???????? Oh–don’t get me started. I broke a friendship with a very good friend of our family and my parents who both passed. She dared to make a remark about my three children who voted for Hillary. I taught my kids well–and for someone to attack MY kids because they voted for Hillary. You did not want to be there. I also have a very strained relationship with most of my siblings. There are five of us (two passed away) FIVE. I’m the ONLY ONE who did NOT vote for Trump! And one of my sisters adores that shitbird. Luckily my Aunt Terry and I are on the same page–she even sent me a lovely email about the post earlier this morning.
Thank you for your support!!! XOXOXOXOXO

  31. patricia blaettler says:

Since you referred to his non-military background, I’ll offer you a visual….Did you see the episode of the Sopranos when the dopey son Anthony was sent to military school? Him in his stupid military get-up was eerily similar to dopey young Trump at that age. Anthony’s situation was satire, written by clever writers and steeped in irony and humor. The other, just f*&^d-up reality which resulted in a moron in the highest office of the land. It is really hard to believe that this happened.

    • Catherine says:

Hi Patricia! I’ve never seen that particular Soprano’s episode, but we have the complete Soprano’s set so I’ll have to peruse! I can just imagine dopey Anthony–and I have the visual in my head!! Oh…and I’m sure the filth, because he went to military school and avoided the draft, still believes he was actually IN the military. The dumbing down continues!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  32. calensariel says:

Is there a limit to how many times you can yell AMEN! on wordpress? TERRIFIC POST!

  33. Hi Catherine, an interesting post in which you raise valid points! Living on the other side of the world and watching all this unfold from afar makes me wonder what the locals are thinking – I now know!! I feel your pain.

    • Catherine says:

Thanks Debbie! OMG. I’m actually mortified to find out what the world is thinking of us since he is “supposed” *cough* *cough* to represent America as a leader. Let me tell you “he isn’t representing ME” And most Americans feel that way too! What an embarrassment!!! Thank you again!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  34. Carolann says:

Catherine – what a powerful post, well said.
Here in the UK where Trumps comments have gone down like a lead balloon, some of our politian’s are trying to suggest that we continue to respect the office of POTUS even if/though we despise the man, but you know, it doesn’t appear to be cutting through, but I have to say there are those who defend him – two party politics, you know how it is.
As you’ll know there’s talk here that he’s offended because he won’t be invited to Harry and Meghans wedding in the Spring, and that he won’t be invited to London to meet the Queen and ride in the Royal carriage to the Palace as the people will come out and protest against him.
What is being suggested is that maybe later in the year at a quieter time he could visit Scotland where he has golf courses and meet the Queen at Balmoral – but tbh, the Scots don’t want him either!
What a shameful situation for the POTUS to be in.
I think the politics in our country at times can be enough to make me spit, but at least we haven’t got such an absolute moron in charge.
Shame about your FB post being taken down, but hey, you’ve made your point very strongly here and we all applaud you for that.
    Carolann.XXXX

    • Catherine says:

Carolann. Oh..don’t get me started on those who say we should respect him whether or not we agree/like/disagree/dislike him or what he says. WTF should we? He as no respect for anyone at all–morally and ethically, he doesn’t deserve anyone’s respect. He’s filth!
And if I were Ms. Markle, there is no way he would be invited to my wedding. (BTW, I love her and Prince Harry!).
Trump is vile in every sense of the word. I am so glad that you are appreciating what I wrote. This post of mine has taken quite a bit of flack from a womens group on FB and I’m very disappointed. So I really appreciate your support!! XOXOXOXO!!!

  35. Gracie says:

    Amen Sister! Well said!!

  36. Christine D says:

OMG…….thanks for telling it like it is. I am from Boston, of Irish descent. We were called “white niggers”……..why get a good black man to do a job when you could get a white n for less.
After T won the election I asked why…….The only thing i could could comeup with is that he is our teacher by way of negative teaching for the life lesson of self love and to love and be comassionate with one another……..the sooner we all take that lesson and learn it well………class may be over!
    Thanks for being so authentic!
    Chris D.

    • Catherine says:

Hi Christine. And thank you for a completely honest comment. The thing is–Trump has just as many who love him as we do despise him. He truly IS the modern day Hitler. Hands down. Hitler overtook Europe the way Trump has taken over the USA. And the sad thing is that the Republicans are the equivalent of the Nazi party. I know this, because I’ve heard it from my French father-in-law and I hear it from my husband all the time. The POTUS of these United States is the axis of evil. Hands down. He is evil. So are Ryan, McConnell and the rest of the Republican party. Evil personified. They only way to get rid of them is to vote them out during the mid-terms. Thank you for your comment!!! XOXOXOXO!!!

      • Christine D says:

Oh dear, i caught myself in my own lack of love for otherrs……….I didn’t mean love the President! Ha! I meant he is teaching us to love one another, not to love him. Don’t you worry I will cast my vote at every opportunity to get rid of him and his people and those you mentioned. I’m so glad we women are standing up and making our voices known. I think Hiltler got in because everyone was quiet and thought he was not so dangerous.
I have some inlaws that are T lovers and fake Christians ………can’t have a conversation with them,
But I (we) can negate their vote at every chance.
I do think T has lots of people who love him but considering that his fellow repubs don’t completely support him, I choose to believe that there are more of us opposed to him and are working to turn this around at midterm…..or sooner. Look at what happened in Alabama! Yeah!
So glad to meet you fellow shitholes!
        Chris D

      • Catherine says:

Christine. My husband is always saying that Trump is such a mirror image of Hitler. Don’t forget, my husband’s family was competely destroyed by Hitler during the Nazi Occupation in France–so he knows what he is talking about. People are so naive. They think Trump will help them-but he won’t he only cares for his wallet and bank account. And boy, these people are in for a rude awakening. And another thing. America has always welcomed all people. Trump is trying to change that. I swear he appeals only to the racist and bigoted and I won’t step away from that train of thought. We definitely need to do our work for the mid-term elections!! Preach sister!!! XOXOXOXOXO!!!

      • Christine D says:

Someone said, ” the price of freedom is constant vigilance”…….we like to think Hitler couldn’t happen again but watch out……there’s lots of crazies. I heard you that given who T is that he may be attracting the worst of the worst. The only thing I have to be thankful to T about is introducing me to you via shithole!
PS I love foul mouthed women!

      • Catherine says:

Christine–My husband, who was born during the Nazi occupation in France, is always saying that Trump is the equivalent of Hitler and that an occupation can come again. Just as Hitler manipulated commonfolk in Germany and elsewhere, so does Trump. People cannot see the big picture and that is what is scary!!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

      • vavashagwell says:

Absolutely! McConnell and Ryan and all the rest of the GOP who refuse to denounce Trump’s behavior are indeed a modern day Nazi party. We must overcome!

  37. Christine D says:

We are overcoming it right now!

  38. Ann says:

Catherine I agree with everything in your post. I don’t read your blog all the time but check in periodically. Thank you for still being feisty after this past year. I had to laugh when you talked about Catholics ( yes I’m one too). I was told once by some annoying woman that Catholics are not Christians. I never wanted hit someone so hard. I do believe we are the original Christians! What is it about Evangelicals acting like they’re the only one entitled to use the word Christian. Catholics have been around a hell of lot longer. I now make it a point of referring to them as Evangelical Protestants, and that they are a category under the Christianity umbrella they are NOT the umbrella.

    • Catherine says:

Ann! I hear you loud and clear. If these “evangelical’s” had one fifth of a brain or theological knowledge, they would all know that the other “Christian” religions branched off the Catholic church, mostly because they either wanted a divorce or didn’t believe in the Blessed Mother. Those evangelical extremists are the farthest things from a true Christian. They pontificate about being right-to-lifers, but once that fetus hits the air–they want nothing else to do with the medical care or education of that child. They are liars and hypocrites. And they need to take a good look at a real Christian–Pope Francis.
LOL–don’t even get me started on this rage against the Catholics!!! XOXOXOXO

Sorry this is late Catherine, I’m catching up. I just had to say what a brilliant post this is. He is such a vile creature. It’s worrying that so many ignorant people will aspire to be like him.
