When an Evil, Vindictive Leader is in Office…

I honestly, didn’t know where to start this blog post.  There is a dish brewing in my head like a long-slow cooking stew and I’m angry and upset and disgusted.

If you are a MAGA cultist, might I suggest sticking to your own kind of Nazi-ridden blogs because if you comment on this, you will have your comment trashed.  I have no time for your mental bullshit.  If you regret voting for it, then the blood is on your hands and I have no sympathy for you, nor am I empathetic.  You are the main fraction in destroying our country.

In addition, if you are one who clutches your pearls over questionable language, might I suggest not reading this post.

She said a naughty word!  I’m clutching my pearls!

Now that that is out of the way, allow me to continue.

A journalist, I may not be.  Neither a pundit nor a poet am I.  I call it like I see it.  No fancy words.  No pseudo-intellectualism.  But, merely the thoughts of an average citizen of these former United States.

MSNBC Plans Its Own 'BravoCon' With 'MSNBC Live' Event in September

The only ones out of this crew that I respect are Joy Reid and Lawrence O’Donnell.  The rest helped Trump get elected by constantly showcasing him while throwing Biden under the bus.  They are prostitutes.

What party am I affiliated with?  I am registered as an Independent.  While I absolutely despise the former Republican Party, which changed for the worse when the Tea Party infiltrated, I am also disgusted with the Democratic party.  Why? You ask.

Independence Party of New York - Wikipedia

And I shall remain an Independent–even though I lean left.

The Democrats are too self-righteous.  (I will get to that a bit later in the blog post).  I am sick and tired of their throwing their leaders under the bus.  Kirsten Gillibrand, who is a total bitch in my opinion, did it to Al Franken.  And, Mr. Franken could have gone a lot further in his political career.   The Party threw Biden under the bus in the way they handled his stepping down from running for President. The Party has gone too far left just as the Republican party has gone too far right.  There is no bipartisanship.  There is no coming in the middle.  It is extremism and that is what is ruining our country—among other things.

Kirsten Gillibrand - Wikipedia

I will never forgive this one for throwing Al Franken under the bus–and I am NOT the only one!

And although Harris was a fantastic candidate, racism (hey, Latino men, I am talking to YOU) and sexism (Hey, white ladies and men, I am talking to YOU) simply could not put her over the boundaries of being properly elected our first woman of America.  And contrary to what Temu-fake-tanned Felon of the United States said regarding a landslide. It was not a landslide.

Bar chart showing exit poll data with Harris leading among women by 53% to 45% to Trump. Trump leads among men with a very similar split.

Trump has a majority with white voters and Harris with black voters.
Harris has a lead with young voters.

Take a good look.  Even though Harris didn’t lose to a landslide, the numbers are sad.

Whereas Harris spoke of making housing affordable, better healthcare for Americans, and bringing the middle class back from oblivion, Trump’s videos of his dancing like a wind-up dog toy and his lies, along with lowering the price of eggs, won the uneducated and the one percent over.

He lied about Project 2025.  And the typical Trump lies have, essentially, proved him truthfully-challenged as he is placing—or rather his boyfriend Elon Musk, is placing them into effect.

You do not make a country better by hacking into the Social Security site and “stealing,” yes stealing the social security numbers of millions of Americans.  One does not threaten or take measures to dismantle our Social Security benefits for the disables or retired.

Unmasked: Musk's Secret DOGE Goon Squad—Who Are All Under 26

Elon Musk’s RatPack.  All are young shitbirds who should be imprisoned for life.

Our disabled need their Social Security disability payments.  Trust me. I used to work for a Disability Advocacy company and our government was and still is very strict about who qualifies for disability.  The biggest frauds are not Americans, white or black or Latino but are Eastern European.  They tried and tried and tried to take full advantage of our system and rarely got away with it (you hear that, Melania?)

Retirees who worked decades depend on their monthly check from Social Security. It is not a benefit. It is money that Americans paid into. For decades.  For their entire careers and working life.  And most of them receiving their money need to work part-time or even full-time because they cannot live on that monthly amount.

Medicare and Medicaid.  Medicaid is for the poor.  And why should they be denied healthcare?  Yes. There are a small percentage of people trying to buck the system but look at the wealthy and corporations bucking the system with little-to-no taxes being paid. How about them apples?

Medicare is well-needed for our older generations.  They can receive deep discounts on needed medicines and so on.

For me, I am petrified to retire. I have medical benefits with my job and took early retirement so that I could possibly be grandfathered should the couple of Trump and Musk dismantle Social Security.

Many of my demographic are in the same boat.  Growing up dreaming of retirement and enjoying our lives traveling and being with family and grandchildren.  It is now a dream as we are still working and will keep working until we drop dead.

Education?  Do not even get me started on this one.  America’s public school system is damaged to begin with.  To get a decent public education, you need to be in a State that supports education and live in a high-taxed area to ensure you child receives a great education unless you can afford to send your child to a prep school, or parochial school or boarding school.

Having grandchildren, I am floored and incredibly upset about this.  And yes. I blame many Boomers and people without children who say either “My kids are grown—why should I pay taxes for schools” “I don’t have kids. Why should I pay taxes for schools.”  You bunch of imbeciles.  A great school system equals higher resale on real estate.  Go ahead and selfishly lower the price of your home if you are relocated.  Spite your nose to spite your face.

Our youth are our future and the future of the United States.  Without education, we are lost.  Oh. Wait.  Trump loves the uneducated.  And the uneducated voted for him.  These are the people missing teef.  They are the ones in ramshackle dwellings with broken appliances strewn over their lawns.  Wait till they lose their monthly Social Security monies and cannot buy cigarettes or beer or head to the casinos anymore.  Our FOTUS (Felon of the United States) will not improve their lives.  In fact, he will make it worse. Still these morons support him and his billionaire contingent.

The Veterans.  He called you losers and suckers.  He dodged the draft by having daddy get a doctor’s note stating he had bone spurs.  Hmmmm.  Don’t those bone spurs hurt when FOTUS is wearing those shoes with lifts?   I have zero empathy for any vet that supports that vicious coward.  You need prosthetic limbs because you lost yours supporting our country?  Get used to never having a replacement because FOTUS is cutting off your funds.  You reap what you sow.

ICEY enough for you Latinos who voted for Trump because you are better than the other Latino groups?  Did you not vote for Harris because of your Latino macho-macho-man mentality?   Deal with it. Deal with family members being deported.  You reap what you sow.

Musk-rat. This guy is shit in every sense of the word.  He is filth and he should be sent back to South Africa on a barge so the sharks can get him.   Getting little boys to hack into our systems?  I swear he did this during the election.  He needs to be in prison and for life.  So do those little shitbirds.

Musk salute at Trump rally celebrated by extremists online

Musk is a fucking Nazi.  I am NOT mincing words on this one. He needs to be sent to prison for a long. Long. Long time.

Imagine.  A person who was not elected destroying our country and coward Trump allows him to do this.  Both are ….

Nazis.   WTF is this Nazi bullshit?  Our news media are the pussies that Trump grabbed when they state “Elon Musk appeared to be giving a Nazi salute.”  You cowardly morons.  He did not appear to be giving it.  He did give a Nazi salute.

Musk is a Nazi.  Trump is a Nazi—in fact, the only book he ever read was Mein Kampf by Hitler.  The Republican party are modern Nazis.

They are dismantling our country as the Nazis and Hitler did.

A little background here:  My husband was born at the end of the Nazi occupation in France.  I have spoken to my Father-in-law about this and he stated that WW Two and the Nazis destroyed their family.

While my husband’s Jewish grandmother escaped to England, his Catholic grandmother was arrested by the gestapo and put into Ravensbrück concentration camp.  Millions of Jews were murdered.  Catholics and Roma and anyone else who was not of the Nazi ilk were murdered.  It is happening again.  Do not be fooled.  Look at the rise in antisemitism.

My husband’s maternal grandfather, Andre Girard, an artist, and Resistance activist, founded and headed the CARTE movement.  We need another resistance against our current Administration.

André Girard - Atelier An. Girard

My husband’s maternal grandfather, Andre Girard.  Read about him here:  Andre Girard

In Cincinnati, a group of Nazis were stopped by locals.  This is what we need.  We need to fight back. One can rest assured if any Nazi bastards enter my neighborhood, I will fight back.  Even if I am the only one, I will fight.

Demonstrators wearing all black and carrying large swastika-emblazoned Nazi flags stand along a highway overpass in Evendale, Ohio, on Friday.

And the media referred to this scum as “white supremists” instead of what they really are–NAZIS

Religion.  As a Catholic attending a very liberal Catholic school, we were taught to give back. The nuns never told us that Catholicism was the only true religion.  We learned about others’ beliefs and ideologies—and not in a condescending way.  It was very educational.  We were also taught respect for others who were not like us. It was very Christian.

Do not get me wrong.  I know that the Catholic Church has its issues and many priests deserve to be put into jail for the damage they have done.  However, we are not as bad as the….

The far-right evangelicals.  They are not Christians.  They look to Trump (who cannot even hold a bible correctly) as their God and Savior.  They worship a rapist, a multiple-divorced man, a racist and so on.  That is Christianity for ya! What a bunch of phonies.  Satan has a better moral compass.  I need to stop for a bit because I am getting triggered.

I’m back.

Genders and Gays.  Who cares if one changes their gender?  I don’t give a rat’s ass.  My only caveat is wait to you are of legal age to change your body parts.  You are trans gendering into a woman and want to use the ladies room?  Be my guest. I’m not going to the rest room to check out whether one has a penis or vagina.  I am going to the rest room to relieve myself of bodily waste.  And when I have to go—I have to go.  I have even gone in the great outdoors without being arrested!

Gay?  I do not care who one does the bouncy-bouncy with and how they do it.  If you are not a pedophile, enjoy yourself.

Global Warming.  It is a thing.  Think back to childhood winters.  Think back to when we had actual four seasons.  Now it is winter into summer.  Summer into winter.  Our polar oceans are warming to the point it is affecting animals.  Our beaches are eroding.  Yet this administration does not believe in it.  I can’t write what I hope happens to them.

Women’s Bodies.  We are in charge of our bodies.  If we need or want an abortion.  It is none of the FOTUS or his Nazi contingent’s business.  We do not need to be “Trad-wives.”  We can be cat ladies.  Or dog ladies.  We can be single and enjoy ourselves.  We don’t need a man.  We especially don’t need a man to decide our fate.  When we do have a man, he should be 100 percent supportive of us and if he is not—throw him to the curb.

When I was younger, I truly believed that America was the greatest country in the world.  Everything was perfect in my own childlike mind.  Huge Christmas Parties where relatives were not divided by politics. In fact, politics were never discussed.  Fourth of July was a coming together of everyone in America.  White.  Black. Brown.  We all attended parades and back yard barbecues.  We waved flags together and stood proud as Americans.

Memorial Day - A Time to Remember - BillionGraves Blog

And don’t forget the real reason for Memorial Day. To honor our troops who gave their lives for us.  The filth FOTUS was too much of a cowardly no-balls to fight for our country.

Labor Day always meant the summer’s end and the start of school.  It was saying goodbye to the beach.  The pool.  The lakes and mountains.  Warm weather.  It was the beginning of knowing the days would be shorter and the weather would change from hot to cold.  We were not aware of Global Warming.  Autumn was a time for jumping into piles of leaves before burning them.  We didn’t know that the emissions from the leaves were damaging.

Winters were long and snowy and after school fun was ice skating and building snow forts.

Unless one lives in the snow belt, that’s all but disappeared.  As one who has been beaching it all her life, the sandy beaches are narrower..and narrower.

I want America back.  You know, the America where our children can receive a proper education.  The America where women have the same rights as men.  The America where her citizens are taken care of  with healthcare programs and Social Security.  The America where equality reigns.

The America without Nazis.

The America with a leadership that cares about the American people as well as globally and who does not allow his self-interest to ruin our country.

I want my country back.

About Catherine

Far from perfect, but enjoying life as a non-perfect and flawed individual at 60 years young. I'm still wondering what I'll be when I grow up! The characters in my life's screenplay include my better half. He is a refined Frenchman who grew up in Paris and summered in St. Tropez. I grew up in Long Island and summered in Long Island. I am not refined. My three grown children are also a big part of my life. For their sake, they happily live where their careers have taken them! But I can still mother them from a distance! I write about the mundane. I write about deeply shallow issues. But whatever I write or muse about--it'll always be a bit on the humorous and positive side! It's all good!

  1. Stephanie Gunter says:

    You are the best

    • Catherine says:

      Thank you Stephanie!!

    • Vava says:

Yes she is. I fully support what she is saying here. Lawsuits need to be filed by injured parties and taken all the way to the f-ing Supreme Court if necessary. That’s Trump’s playbook, especially once SCOTUS passed that asinine ruling last summer. The Dems need to get into a fighting mode rather than standing around wringing their hands and saying, “oh dear”. I’m a staunch Dem and am unhappy with how the party is reacting to all this bullshit. At least some AGs in 19 states fought! Wake up, America!!

      Laws are being broken. FIGHT!

      • Catherine says:

Thanks Vava! He should be sued and rightly so. And the dems in congress should sue him instead of sitting on their progressive asses. I joined 5 Calls. Go onto your app store. It gives you your 5 congress people to call and every day I get a reminder. I make those calls and I won’t stop. My daughter told me about it. I am proud of my daughter and sons too! Don’t even get me started on the SCOTUS it’s a joke. An absolute joke.

  2. Nancy L Ames says:

    Preach it, Sister!

  3. Linda Jarnig Stevens says:

Well said! It almost made me cry, reading your blog about where we are. Sad and scary.

    • Catherine says:

Thanks Linda. It is sad. It is such a sad state of affairs that people would vote against their best interests. It shows that half of Americans are not good people. Hopefully good will overpower evil!

    • It did make me a bit weepy, and I’m not even American, or living there. All my life, America has been the country I most wanted to go to, now I just want all my American friends to come here,(NZ) so they are safe.

  4. Sarah says:

Thank you. Coherently laid out this groups Nazi agenda. You are not alone. We all need to speak up where we can! Rock on!

    • Catherine says:

Thank you Sarah. It’s difficult to wrap our heads around the return of the Nazi party but they are all in DC congress and now on the streets. They must be stopped.

  5. Mary Catherine Wynne says:

I did cry. Seeing it laid out point by point is overwhelming. I can’t even see a way back from this, particularly for wildlife and climate change. I’m 71 with 2 daughters and I’m profoundly scared for them. I ran across a video on Instagram from Bernie Sanders. I was not a supporter of his, but at his age he is still fighting mad, amazing that he still has the energy for this. He talks about oligarchy and about how now it’s official. Thanks for pointing out that it was not a landslide, people voted against their own self interests, but they, like us, will suffer the consequences. And we’re only one month in. God help us. You are more of a journalist then you realize.

    • Catherine says:

Thanks Mary Catherine (I still can’t believe we are both Wynne’s and Catherines!). I have been crying on and off since November. As a borne NYC gal, people didn’t listen to me when I said his vindictiveness goes back decades. I worry about my health, my SS payments and just want to get through the next four years without any issues. He is evil and every morning I check the obituaries with no luck. Musk is just as evil.

  6. Sarah Connor says:

Everything you said is the brutal truth, and your post should be published throughout the country and by every news journalist out there. We need to rise up and fight back and never give in to the filthy cowards in office including their Nazi leader who was never elected, Muskrat. I found your post refreshing, and it should resonate with all those who still have a sense of right and wrong.

    • Catherine says:

Thank you Sarah. It took me a while to write this because I didn’t want to sugarcoat anything. And–this is how I feel. Journalists kiss ass. It is THEIR fault in part for Shitler’s being in office because they low-keyed everything he did. Those who voted for him get what they deserve!

  7. emefros says:

Great post! You put in words everything I’ve been thinking so a huge “Thank You.”

  8. Toni Soucie says:

Cathe…This was a well thought out blog and one I 100% agree with. I’m am disgusted, disheartened and sad just watching our country circle the drain. I’ve never felt such hatred towards an individual as I do Trump. He is pure evil and I only wish that back in July…….well, I’m sure you know what I am alluding to. Our country is fading and the millions applauding what he and Musk are doing as good. It pains me to know I have relatives and friends who voted fur him and to whom I know see as racists. I’ve kept my distance from them because I honestly will lose it if I have any dialogue with them. I pray there is a forceful resistance movement we can become part of to fight for what we are losing.

    • Catherine says:

Toni. I have siblings who adore Trump. I keep a distance. We weren’t raised to worship Nazis. Or racists. Or rapists. Or Felons. Every. Single. Day. I check the news to see if he expired. He is absolute filth but his supporters are filthier.

  9. Nancy Tallman says:

    Well said!!

  10. Ilyse Smith says:

Screw your ugly self. I keep trying to unsubscribe. You are one stupid lady

    • Amy S. says:

Many of us hope you do unsubscribe, Ilyse. Your inability to say anything other than insults highlights your lack of critical thinking skills and intellectual capacity. Unsubscribing is amazingly easy. Being a mature, thoughtful person is also not that difficult for many of us. So sorry it’s so difficult for you.

    • Catherine says:

Hey Ilyse. I don’t mince words. I was going to delete your response, but I want everyone to see what a disgusting individual you are. Bye Bye. Or shall I say Auf Weidersehen Ms. Braun? I don’t see why you can’t unsubscribe? Are you THAT uneducated?

    • gretchen says:

Hey, Ilyse, you red asshat pos, GFY.

    • marsha57 says:

You could just not open the post or even read it. But, instead…here we are. Did your mama not teach you, “If you can’t say anything good, don’t say anything at all?” Just don’t open the email, and unsubscribing is quite easy. Try figuring it out. Maybe one of your Nazi friends can help you with that.

  11. Momcat says:

Yay! I’ve been waiting for you to post..and here you are. <3<3 As a Canadian I asked myself just how could FOTUS get back in the now very much WHITE house? Was it not clear to voters what kind of jerk this POS is? Just finished watching Margaret Brennan skewer two Republicans reps on Face the Nation this morning. Talk about a lot of stupid pompous rhetoric but one thing came out. Apparently many of those who voted for tRump feel that he is fulfilling his campaign promises….just not the way they thought he would. Jokes on them! I read that an IGer from OK was upset that her special needs kid might not get the subsidized care they need…THIS is NOT what I voted for! ( insert foot stamp) well girl, this is what you are getting so better start a crowd funder for that baby child of yours…
How disgusting that Medicaid will now devolve to starting a GoFundMe. How sad.
We’re sitting up here eating our ( Canadian) popcorn with our (Canadian beer) cancelling our trips to Florida, border shopping junkets and selling vacation property in the US while we enjoy omelettes made with inexpensive eggs.
Trust me, we are not happy seeing what happens to the USA especially since Cheato wants us to join his right wing shit show with his on again off again tariff threats. F@#k him. I have family in Pennington NJ and California, I am worried AF.
There will be push back from Americans and all likely hood insurgence that will make Jan 6 look like a child’s tea party. That is frightening. Where will POTUS be? Sitting on the beach in his new Gaza Riviera! He is a mad man and your nation would be well to rise up and take him and that revolting Musk with him.
Looking back to that terrible incident with the former military fellow who ended his own life in a Tesla Tank outside of a Trump building. If ever a warning that should be taken heed of was given it was this. Trump and Elon will blow the nation up. Sorry that man sacrificed himself to get the message out there, he should be given a posthumous award.

God Bless each and every American who voted against this Nazi and his minions.

and this just in( will it ever end???) love how he calls himself ‘amazing’ anyway .. what the hell is his vision of a Golden Age of Arts and Culture??? yup pole dancing ballerinas, nude opera, naked Shakespeare. Too bad Hugh Hefner isn’t alive he’d put him in charge!
    This:
“At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social. “We will soon announce a new Board, with an amazing Chairman, DONALD J. TRUMP!”

    Someone please cancel him.

    • Catherine says:

Hi Al, Oh, this has been brewing for a while but I wanted to see how much I could take of his bullshit before writing a post. I’m hoping he gets booed into oblivion at the Superbowl tonight. And. I stand with Canada. I hope you all stop purchasing ALL goods made in the USA. Kentucky bourbon included. Allow his ecomony to tank. That is why I’m on a no-buy. I want our ecomomy to tank so badly. Hopefully THAT will get the message across.
Don’t even get me started about people who voted for him and are now sorry. One woman on the internet posted something about having five kids and her husband is out of work and they depend on disability and now she is afraid of losing it. First of all, I think she is early 30’s with missing TEEF and a filthy house. She needs to clean her house and maybe get a job at a farm where undocumented workers got sent back to where they came from. Problem is white people like that won’t work. They, just like the man who married a woman from Venezuela and now she is deported, and he voted for Trump and made a video BEGGING him to bring his wife back–did you see that one. My popcorn is ready because they all reaped what they sowed. Unfortunately we are all being affected by their stupidity.
Trump can’t change the Kennedy Center. However, I AM happy that NYERS are pissing on the Trump tower!!

  12. Rose says:

O, Catherine, that is the saddest thing I ever read. My heart hurts for you and, here in the UK, we naively think it could never happen here. But the far right in all of Europe is watching and learning.

    • Catherine says:

Rose, hopefully, Europe’s far right will see how evil Trump, Musk and the rest of the NaziRepublican party is and head to a more centrist political viewpoing. We are in deep shit.

  13. Teresa Freeland says:

As a Missouri born 70-year-old woman, I am also scared for my country. My daughter is an English teacher in a public school and chose that career because she loves literature and wanted to pass that love along so that the youth of this country could learn to appreciate good writing, novels, current events and non-fiction. Now, books are banned everywhere. It doesn’t matter the content or how much we can all learn from their stories. My daughter is disheartened, saddened, and also scared for our future as a country.
Living in the part of the country that I do – Missouri; I see ignorance every single day. I keep reminding myself that Missouri is home to Claire McCaskill, Harry Truman, and Mark Twain. We still have a lot of good people here.
I see your frustration, and that of your husband’s and extended family. My dad was a Navy man during WWII – drafted fresh out of high school and served on the USS North Carolina. He would be appalled and disgusted by all this.
We all need support at this time, and I have mine. My girly ‘tribe’ is fantastic, and my husband is progressive, but he fears for our daughters’ futures.
Thank you for your post and allowing me to vent, too. Good luck to us all. We’re going to need it.

    • Catherine says:

Teresa, this is the place to vent. I hope your daughter has touched at least one of her students that reading opens a door to everything we need to know. Through reading you learn great stories written by great writers, you can travel, you can enter a time machine and you can allow your imagination to take place. My love of reading goes back to fourth grade and Sr. Mary Clairvaux who inspired so many of my friends to read. Every day, she made sure our last 15 minutes of school was spent listening to her reading aloud from a chapter book. She was wonderful.
I also thank you for your ability to stay strong during this frightening time!

  14. Jackie says:

Absolutely with you on it all. Convicted felon, ketamine hopped up migrant car salesman and the arrested developed tech bros are intending to destroy our government, loot the treasury, and privatize all services to fleece Americans while convincing them that education is worthless making serfs of us all. And they could amass this power because they optimized the power of racial hate, the most virulent form of hate.

Being an old lady my one real hope is that in my experience intentions matter, karma doesn’t like malice and as MLK said, the moral arc of the universe bends towards justice.

    • Catherine says:

Jackie. Let us hope they all get their comeuppance and poetic justice. They are scum. Every single one of them. They should be dragged by the shorthairs.

  15. Susanu says:

Oh I so agree with everything you said! I hate the Cheato with a passion only surpassed by my hate for the unelected and real president Musk. The level of cruelty is appalling in these people. What has happened to our Congress? A bunch of spineless bastards, all of them. And with Dems truly in the minority, the only power they have is the upcoming government shutdown, because I really don’t think the Reps will unite enough to pass any budget. We are so screwed. And half my family voted for and support this ripping apart of our country that I love so much. It’s heartbreaking, infuriating, and wrong.

  16. June says:

Amen, i couldn’t agree with you more. Still amazed this is where we are. I no longer walk my neighborhood because I know who had signs on their lawns. I will not return to a small business because I know how the owner voted. I also need to find a new hair stylist. This has effected me so much.

When my TV show is interrupted with “breaking news” , my fingers are crossed. Did something happen to FOTUS???

I hope that the people receiving the ” fork in the Road” emails are his supporters who voted for this.

Just like you, I am sad, frightened , disappointed and disgusted.

    XOXO

  17. Debra says:

We can only hope that self-tanner is toxic when used in large quantities.

I hate that guy (and his broligarch sidekick) with the heat of a thousand suns, and then some. You’ve done a wonderful job of listing all of the reasons why you-know-who should never have been re-elected. And yet, somehow, the dummies among us voted for him, or voted third party, or didn’t vote at all, and here we are.

I am going to a family wedding this weekend in a newly red state, unfortunately, and it will be full of deep red state people from the region I grew up in. I am mentally rehearsing how I will walk away from conflict as members of my family are among those who enabled the crisis we are now living through. I’m SO angry with these people but it would not be fair to the bride or groom to engage in political arguments on their big day. The difficult thing is that some members of my family think my dislike for the Faux-Tanned Felon is ‘funny’ – it’s no joke to me. I want to slap some faces when they make comments about how ‘woke’ I am, but I think the ‘cut direct’ will be the way to go this time.

Another sad thing is that I am not convinced that any of the dunderheads who enabled this will learn anything from the situation and I do believe that they and might elect a similarly unqualified idiot again (if we do have another election).

Keep up the good fight – I’ll be pushing back on my end, too.

    • Catherine says:

Thank you Marsha. We should all be pissed off and scared–but not too scared to fight. My motto of late is “Bring back Nuremburg” and do to those what was done to Nazi leaders. I never thought we would see the rise of that again but–it happened and the people of the USA are to blame. Those who voted for it should be getting what they deserve and that is no sympathy from me!

    • Catherine says:

HI Debra. I hope his self-tanner suffocates his skin cells and……..the outcome is the end. He’s a lying, vindictive sack of shit who cares only about himself. The billionares are just as bad. Instead of kissing his diapered ass, they should be giving back–or at the least pay their fair share of taxes.
Good luck at the wedding. I am glad that I don’t have to deal with my trump-loving siblings at any events. I love them dearly but presently–cannot deal with them.

You are right on. I haven’t even finished the post. I had to pull away due to emotion. I will return when I calm down. We have stopped watching our favorite political shows. My husband goes on a rant. We were republicans til Trump. Having subscribed to Vanity Fair for years we were aware of who the Con was. Silly us we thought in his first term the elder republicans would keep control. We immediately be an independents. After January 6 we thought he was done. Thank you for stating our situation. I did hear that the congress phone lines are on over load with people stating their disapproval. Going to get in line there

    • Catherine says:

HI Jane. I had to walk away from writing the post because I was getting triggered! Glad you finished reading it. Hey. We stopped watching the news because it’s all about Shitler and his minions and nothing regarding fighting back. I call my congress people every day! Every. Single. Day!

  19. marsha57 says:

I live in deeply red Indiana, but I’m old enough to remember when we had stellar congresspeople like Birch Bayh and Richard Lugar. I’m also old enough to remember when political careers were ruined by having a cutie perched on a lap (Gary Hart) and having a mental health history (Thomas Eagleton). Now, we have this disgusting mess whose followers insist the 10 Commandments be placed in classrooms even though he’s broken so many of them. When it was elected the first time, I warned people about the many different ways its term of office mirrored that of Nazi Germany. I was seen as fearmongering. Now, I see so much more of that evidence, and I am truly scared, pissed, and worried about where this country is going. I can only hope that those idiots who voted for him realize and join forces with those of us who saw through all the bluster and bullshit. I don’t want to join forces with them at all, but it may take them to take our country back. And, you can’t tell me that at least one or two of those young shitbirds (love that term) aren’t keeping track of Social Security numbers and account. There’s going to be so much coming out about this administration should we be lucky enough to see it end. I have managed to estrange many of my family members by talking about my fears. That’s OK. I’ll take them in should they need me because I do love them…OK, one of them I won’t. My husband’s family can all go to hell (or at least the ones who voted for this mess). I know I’m not following my religious beliefs in feeling this way. In fact, I have commented on posts talking about the Bishop who preached such a beautiful homily that the poster or the commenter must be an Old Testament Christian because Christ wouldn’t approve of what they’re saying. Many of my former students are gay, trans, or drag queens. I fear for them almost as much as I do for my two granddaughters. I just hope, sometime soon, the people who can actually do something do it! I honestly thought all those nominations were jokes and would never be approved. The joke was on me, though.

Thank you for always writing the truth in a way I never can. You always get it just right.

    • Nancy says:

HI – I am also in IN…In St.Joseph County…where are you? I echo your thoughts and concerns.

      • marsha57 says:

Hi, Nancy! I’m in Brownsburg, a suburb of Indianapolis. You would think it would be a bit bluer, but it really isn’t. It was heartening, though, to see some Harris/Walz signs about.

  20. FMM says:

I feel you. Trying everyday to figure out how to survive this.

  21. EL says:

Agree with your post and would leave the country if it weren’t for my children and grandchildren. I have to limit the amount of news I read and listen to (no cable, thank God) to preserve my mental health, although I certainly am keeping current with the horrors taking place in DC and across the country. If all this was only hurting those who voted R I’d be OK with it, but sadly it is affecting all of us. I have no pity for anyone who is now being negatively affected by the vote they cast in November, as uncharitable as that is. As you said, as you sow so shall you reap. But God help all the rest of us.

  22. Here’s a suggestion
Put your reps on speed dial: senators, council ppl ,house of reps etc. make a call everyday with your complaints. Say u will be calling again tomorrow to see what has been done and with other agenda items. Mobilize get everyone u know on board get them to get everyone they know on board. Make noise. Be intrusive. Be Wiley; never give up! We would still be a British backwater without our American valor and courage. Remember who u r.
Why pay taxes ? Government is for the ppl and by the ppl. Appreciate the rant
But we need to organize .

    • Catherine says:

Hi Ann, I’ve made countless phone calls. I’ve written letters. I’ve called local government. They are all petrified of that Temu Fake Tanned Coward. It is astounding….

  23. Lisa Guthrie says:

Thank you for your voice. I am frightened every day thinking about where our country will be a year from now.

  24. Lisa says:

Thank you for this powerful post. I never thought I would live to see this destruction of our government and lives. I have worked my entire adult life and paid taxes without complaining. We saved and based our financial planning on what we were told Medicare and SS would provide. The only time we got anything from the government was the checks during Covid and the Bush tax cuts. Now a handful of billionaires who don’t need more money want to destroy and take away everything from people who need it or paid into the system, all so billionaires who don’t pay taxes can be more powerful and more rich. Color me pissed off. Fuck them all and fuck everybody who voted for this monster. And fuck the Democratic Party for caving to their own billionaire donors and the Supreme Court for setting up this disaster. I didn’t work my entire life to live under Nazi rule. Things didn’t work out so well for Hitler and his comrades. I hope they all get what they so richly deserve.

  25. Miss Bougie says:

Very well written, Cathy. I am so sorry for the 50% who did not vote for him. They need to live with their neighbor who did. I hope that the US checks system will work. I hear many legal actions are already on the way. The only ones benefiting from this presidency will be the lawyers and the ultra rich. 😂 And Elon? He’s thinks he’s the one elected. No wonder that we see more and more US citizens emigrating to Europe.
I also feel for Canada. They do not deserve this outlandish and respect less behaviour.
The only benefit I see so far is that DT, he with a mob mentality, has shocked Europe into action. The European Union and France need to get their sh@*t together and reform. No more stupid regulations (in the name of protecting the consumer) hindering innovation and the emergence of European champions on the EU side and less restrictions, less taxes and less government spending on the French side. Also more intelligent spending on defense. Emmanuel Macron has been saying it since 2017. But except Poland and the Baltic states, who are fearing for their survival, everyone else was deaf. I think people need to batten down the hatches and hunker down for at least 2 more years.

  26. Penny says:

Hello Catherine and I so am with you and get your anger.

Here in the UK I follow Heather Cox Richardson, where every day I read sensible, articulate and well researched information about the US. And oh wow, what a predicament you are all in. Note that the entire world watches and jaws drop at his every announcement especially the foreign policy objectives – his latest ideas for Gaza is so nuts it’s bordering on the surreal. And I thought he promised no more foreign engagement or wars? Well, taking over Gaza will be a huge commitment of money and, sadly, soldiers. Will it happen, who knows. I do think the Democratic party is to blame for so much. Who knew Biden was too old – I think everyone. And then far too late Kamala Harris was pitchforked into the arena with the inevitable consequences. Now it appears to me outside the US that the Democrats are – what? I don’t know – where are the young up and coming Democrats.I don’t see any and I don’t hear much opposition? Have I got that right???

I do hope this gets through to you as I know my comments are not always seen – it’s a problem I have with WordPress, not you.

Sending very good wishes to you from across the pond.

    Thank you! I love you!!

Could not agree with you more!!
Really appreciate your putting it so articulately into words.
There is comfort in knowing others feel the same.
And I will look into that app your daughter recommended.
Though I have to overcome my feeling that it is hopeless, and nothing will make a difference.
I am trying to change my shopping and online habits though based on those who seem to be kissing ass of the bully.
Trying to avoid Amazon, Facebook, Target – though it’s hard. Signed up for Costco. Found Vitacost online has many things I buy. Using the app “Goods Unite Us” to see who supports who – though not sure of its accuracy.
Anyway, thank you again for your voice of sanity.

A GREAT ARTICLE I`M INDEPENDENT ALSO. WHAT A BIG ASSHOLE TRUMP IS.

  33. Kelly Jackson says:

I’m Australian and feel for your country for all of the reasons you so eloquently expressed in your blog. Past President’s of the United States were always respected, not always agreed with, but looked at as a caretaker of the free world. Trump will never be looked on that way by people who care about humanity, about the living standards of the poor, women’s rights, etc. Trump is not only bad for the U.S. he’s bad for the world.

    • Catherine says:

Thanks Kelly. He, along with his cabinet, are the scum of the earth. Those who voted for him are absolutely worse! And Muzsk–he is subhuman.

  34. bridget says:

I haven’t read all the replies but just read your blog now Cathe.

I agree with very word you write, every single one, and then some.
I feel scared and live in dread. My husband and I are naturalized Americans, my hub worked on Wall Street with an Italian bank for 20 years, he was then sent back to Head Office in Rome with his job, and then he took an early retirement some years ago and we decided to return to the US. We became American citizens while we were in Rome, as we had applied before leaving the US. We feel we grew up in NYC (I was 24 he was 28 when we came here in the 70’s) and love this country. We became citizens under Clinton/Gore and were so proud.
We too are registered Independent the Dems have always seemed like a bunch of cowardly wimps to me. Now more than ever. We wouldn’t vote anything but democratic as we have lefties all our lives, it’s in our very DNA.
My parents were Irish immigrants to England, and my husband’s dad actually worked in the ‘resistance’ against Mussolini in Rome during the war. He lost a baby sister that was born during the war to the fact that the Germans didn’t allow proper powered milk to the inhabitants, just tainted powder and his sister died from enteritis at 6 months of age. His mother had no breast milk due to malnutrition. The Germans rationed everything in Rome, the food was scarce, and they went to bed hungry most nights. That was before my hub was born.
I cannot believe what I see now, a convicted felon writing ‘executive orders every day and dismantling this country. Who’s going to stop him, the Supreme Cort will probably bend to his will too in the end. It’s a living nightmare. I had to smile when I read your reference to Al Franken, such a decent man, so intelligent, and totally thrown under the bus by his own party! I also agree with what you say about the media. CNN got him elected, and MSNBC too. We have been saying that all the 4 yrs of the Biden admin. They did showcase Trump, we saw nothing but his orange face for 4 years, and they were thrashing Biden at every turn. It still continues on CNN, they only wanted ratings to survive, and they figured getting T reelected was their best bet. It’s such a disgrace. I know I am preaching to the choir, I just wish we lived closer, as it lifts my spirit to know that you and your husband exist, we live in S. Florida and know no one like you. It’s a waste land of folk who don’t pay any attention to anything. Keep on shining my friend. Bridget

  35. beth b says:

Thank you for your post. It’s beyond heartbreaking what is happening to our country. Every day I wake up with a pit in my stomach, wondering what new nightmare is going to occur. Isn’t it just so overwhelming? My plan was to retire in 2026, but I don’t trust our government right now … how pathetic does that sound. I’m so sad and not sure how we’ll get through the next four years.

    • Catherine says:

Hi Beth. Sorry I’m so late to answer this but now, in April, that pos has made things worse and nobody in congress does anything about it. I’m disgusted and triggered. I’m in shock that pig was invided to our Pope’s funeral. Trump is the farthest thing from a Christian. Sitting there as though he’s sitting on his toilet with his iPhone. He is excrement and I hope he is flushed soon!
