Laura Geller. Are you”Effing” Kidding Me? You Made a Foundation That’s Amazing AF!!

So why aren’t  you marketing it to the older woman?

This is so passive-aggressive.  I love the product but I have issues with the brand…

Read on.

I know, I know.  It seems like lately, I’m on a foundation kick.  But when your skin has been on your body for over 60 years, you need to play around. You need to always be on the lookout for a foundation that’ll be kind in loving your wrinkly and lined face.

Am I right?

I’m gonna tell you what happened this week.  OK?  I got an email from Laura Geller Beauty.  No. It wasn’t for a sponsored post and the company wasn’t “reaching out” to me.  Simply stated—the brand wanted my money.

Anyway, I remembered way back—almost twenty years ago, I had some of Geller’s eyeshadow/liner duos.  One was a gorgeous plum with a black liner.  It was that baked stuff and it was fabulous.

The liner/shadow duo was very similar to this only the plum color was a bit on the cooler side of the spectrum and it was fabulous!  I LOVED it!

I also had a body bronzer from the Laura Geller brand.  This bronzer lasted forever!  And I remember that it was superb.

This is the body bronzer–Baked Body Frosting  and now that I’ve found it again, I’m going to order it.  I’m telling you–this on the legs and you don’t need fake tan. It’s a great winter product!

I also remember watching her on QVC.  I liked her manner because she seemed like a cool lady. She seemed real and down-to-earth.  But, you know, tastes change and somewhere along the line, I forgot about the brand.

Laura Geller. She looks like a really nice woman–the kind you want to dish the dirt with. Know what I mean?

So, when I saw the email my memory, along with my interest, was piqued.  I perused the website.  I saw two products that my attention was immediately drawn to.  Baked Balance-n-Brighten Foundation and Baked Bronze-n-Brighten. And then I had another flashback.  I distinctly remember having one of these products and it was horrific!  It was way too dark on my face and oxidized—turning me into a girly pumpkin.

Interest piqued, I just HAD to go back and revisit Laura Geller’s cosmetics!

Anyway, I decided to do a little detective work in the form of reading reviews.

Wait.  Wayne Goss loves the Balance-n-Brighten.  The Wayne Goss.  If Wayne approves, then this must be some good shit!  And I read more reviews and it seems that Balance-n-Brighten Foundation is a good buy. Did I use the wrong product?  Did Laura Geller change her formula?  Was it time to revisit a product that didn’t work for me?

And Wayne purchased with his OWN money. He wasn’t sponsored. And he recommends!  Need I say more?

I clicked.  I purchased. I waited.

Two days later, I received a small box with the Balance-n-Brighten products and a lip gloss in the color “Skinny Dip”.  The sale lippie brought me to the total of free shipping!

The Skinny Dip Lippie.  You’ll see how it rolled a bit later in the post!

Yes. I tried it at night when nobody could see me. And I was stunned. Wayne was right…Or was he??

Honestly, I didn’t have high hopes for this foundation.  I remember some years ago I tried my hand at bareMinerals powder foundation.  It was a virtual nightmare!  My face had morphed into a cross between the Grand Canyon on a dusty day and the Sahara Desert. It was awful.

I’ll admit.  I cannot live without bareMinerals “Well Rested” for my eyes. But their foundation is a complete miss for me. In every way!

My arid skin did not welcome any power foundation kindly.

So, with no high hopes, and the approval of The Wayne Goss, I tried the Balance-n-Brighten foundation.  It was after dinner and my face was cleansed of makeup but I couldn’t help it. I was impatient and had to try it.

W.T.F.???  I was sure I screwed up the application because my skin looked great.  Something was wrong. I was sure of it. I waited for the foundation to oxidize. It didn’t.

I waited for my skin to start cracking from dryness.   It didn’t.

My emotions were getting the best of me regarding the Balance-n-Brighten foundation!  What would I do?

But I wasn’t sold yet.  I would have to wait until the daytime hours to give it the true test.

Since I was running late to work yesterday, I didn’t have time for a full face so the Balance-n-Brighten remained unused.

Today I did. have the time and I did use the Balance-n-Brighten.

Can I tell you how effing great this foundation is?

Here’s the proof in pics.

The Balance-n-Brighten. It’s also made in Italy, which is a good thing!  It’s a great product!

OK Ladies. Take a good look. Before on the left. After on the right. No shit!  Same light. No filters. No fillers. Wrinkles are genuine. Lines are fine. I would not photoshop. Look at the difference in the color.  Evened out the skin tone. Covered flaws without losing the integrity of my skin’s age.

I used the golden “skinny dip” lippie UNDERNEATH my pink lip gloss.  It gave a nice addition and depth.

The finished face. On our way to Philly.  I took this selfie in natural light. OMG–this foundation is freakin’ incredible.

Wait. I also added the Balance-n-Brighten Baked Bronze–which gives a very light and natural glow.

This is better than my Guerlain Bronzer. Yes. It is.

So now, with the good comes the not-so-good.

Laura Geller is no spring chicken. I’m not saying that in a bad way either. She has entered the “Older Woman” stratosphere. She is one of us.  She’s an Old Broad.  So then why does she only have photos of young women on her website?

This. On the 20th Anniversary blah blah. Were these women even in their mother’s womb twenty years ago? Where is your ORIGINAL fan base Laura?  Isn’t that more fitting of a 20-year anniversary?

That’s right. Girl. I am calling you out! Here’s a foundation that is “Old Lady”, “Mature Woman”, “Older Woman”, “Mature Skin”, “Old Broad”, friendly and you have women who probably haven’t even given birth yet on your website?

8 hours later and the foundation was still doing a remarkable job…

No cakey texture on this old broad’s face. Nothing digging into the lines. Come On Laura. Market to your target.  We have bucks to spend. Do not forget us!

Even worse is your freaking #beauty2share. ( Click on that link. You won’t believe it.  Not an older woman in sight. And the photoshopping is just so sad. Where are the natural beauties? Where are the OLDER beauties?)  Granted. The women who are sharing their beauty are beautiful. I don’t deny any woman of her beauty. However, how many of these women are using filters and/or have been pumped with plastic and fillers?  How many are photoshopped?

Show us real women!  Show us the older women!  I demand to see a lined face. You owe it to the women who are over 40. And 50. And 60.  Older women use your products too!

Come on Laura. I double-dog dare ya! You have the greatest “effing” (I promised Bonaparte I would curb my language) product that is ridiculously aging friendly and you are hiding it from us.  Girlfriend needs a new ad agency. One that recognizes the older woman!

Come on Laura. I want answers. I want to know why you have created an epic product and you aren’t focusing on the older woman. WTF??????

And that is why I’m on a rampage. Therefore, I’m not making anymore Urban Decay or Benefit cosmetic purchases. These companies are not older woman-friendly.  You all remember the patronizing letter I received from Urban Decay, don’t you?  Here it is in case you are not familiar: It’s a Crisis!

I have recently decided to drop e.l.f. cosmetics from my roster as well.   And since Estee Lauder decided to make younger-than-a-fetus Kendall Jenner their spokes baby, I will never again make a purchase from that brand. We older women need to be a militia in force and show these companies that we are visible and should be noticed!

Laura. You have time to redeem yourself and come out publicly on your website giving love to the older woman. I know you can do this.  You are one of us. Come out of the age closet and be proud!

You can do it Laura Geller.  Come out of the closet and out yourself as an older-woman-friendly brand! We will be loyal to you!

Because there’s a whole demographic group of women who would love you and your Balance-n-Brighten foundation.  It’s an incredible product and it works.

Can I get an Amen??

AMEN girlfriend.  AMEN. Let’s PRAISE the older woman!!

Maybe I can’t get an “amen” but Girl, you know it’s true when I tell you this is a great foundation.  I have Milli Vanilli to prove it too.

Girl, You Know It’s True! I can’t stop thinking about these two guys and the fact that if man buns were around in the 1980’s they would be rocking the look!

  1. 3C Style says:

You know what Catherine, I trust you and I will try this product for myself, a fifty old woman! Hope that Laura Geller reads your post. Dominique xoxo

    • Catherine says:

Dominique. This stuff is the total shit. I’m not kidding. I was seriously blown away! I’ve never, EVER tried a powder that was so good. I’m not even going to call this a powder. But it drives me crazy that Geller, an older woman by the beauty industry standard, hasn’t tapped into the mature demographic exclusively. Her company is 20 years old–and she has young women all over her site. Did you check out the #beauty2share part of her site. I’m truly sickened by it. It’s nothing more than photoshopped, barbie dolls. WTF??? Where are the REAL women? I realize that these companies wanna make a buck–but get real. Most women are more normal looking.

  2. Debe says:

All I can say is wow that stuff is amazing. I ahree us “babes” 60 plus need this. Years ok long ago when Ms Lauder was alive I was a rep for Estee Lauder and her products were geared towards mature and not mature. Meaning start taking care now of the face. Her Clinique line came out competition for Bonne Bell remember 10 0 6 for yoir face and white white for under the eyes???

Keep on Laura we need this for us you are our Leader! I salute you!

    • Catherine says:

Debe I lost my reply to you. But I originally stated that I LOVED Bonne Bell “White White”. I can even still smell the stuff–along with 10-0-6. Why did that brand disappear anyway? BB had some great products–there was a lipgloss–a natural, colorless one that was THE best lip gloss stick of all time! Laura Geller can be a leader but she has to start including us instead of excluding. There are brands I absolutely refuse to purchase due to their ageist thinking. I don’t want Geller to go that route!! XOXXOXOXOXO!!!!

  3. Missi B says:

OK Atypical60 followers, it’s time to make our mature voices heard: tweet, email, call those companies who’ve dumped our demographic for the pre-pubescent models who probably have to ask their parents for their $$$. I harass Cabi and Estée Lauder these days and will continue to call them and others out! (After doing the same to a long list of senators and representatives of a certain party each week, my fingertips are getting callouses!)

    • Catherine says:

Missi. Touche Girlfriend! I’ve reached out to e.l.f. with no response. e.l.f. is persona-non-grata to me now. Same thing with Urban Decay. I absolutely refuse to give that brand one stinking scent. Same with Benefit. I’m done. Mally is a great company–Mally Roncal recognizes the older woman. Estee Lauder is shit in my book. After using Jenner as a spokesbaby. I will never patronize that brand. I’m telling you, I’m getting all militant and it is about time!!! Thank you Missi!!! XOXOXOXO

  4. Great post! That is some great foundation on you! I agree with the marketing of make up for older women, it’s non existent! Us baby boomers have way more money to spend then these younger gals. Hopefully some of them will get with the program!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Contessa. Oh. The foundation is absolutely amazeballs! I’m still in a state of shock. And I’m even more shocked that this has not been marketed specifically for women of the boomer age. I”m shaking my head. And another thing–the youth market is fleeting but the older market–when finding a product that works–we stick with it! I hope they do get with the program. In this day of Instagram and vloggers and bloggers the companies only want the youth and it’s sad and daunting!!! XOXOXOXO

  5. Ellie says:

I enjoy your blog so much!

  6. lifelessons says:

You should be her mature model.. Incredible before and after pix.

    • Catherine says:

Oh..thank you..and those before and afters were untouched and in the same lighting proving that the foundation DOES work. Unfortunately, companies want retouched, photoshopped, unlined, unwrinkled and filtered lighting–showing false advertising. They don’t want real!!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

      • lifelessons says:

Your way is much more convincing.

      • lifelessons says:

Do you have any way to send this blog and your statement to her or establish tags that might bring it to someone in her company’s attention? I once wrote a poem about my Scrubdaddy falling apart so soon and even though it was not my intent, I ended up getting a comment by them in my blog (they even wrote it in rhyme, as my poem had been in rhyme) and they sent me a free Scrubdaddy, tracking me down in Mexico when it was returned from my American mailing address! I think you should investigate avenues. Your blog was very convincing to me.

      • Catherine says:

Judy. I only wish I could get through to Laura Geller. My inquiries always go unanswered. Those in the industries can’t stand me because I challenge them. I’m box-office poison to them. They only want the smoke & mirrors women with the fillers and botox and surgically perfect. They do not want the normal woman. Trust me. I’ve tried!!! XOXOXOXO!!!

  7. fiona says:

Glad to hear you discovered a foundation that does the business, I don’t think we can get that brand in the UK. (I thought she was the woman from Buffy at first, hah!) I’m using less and less foundation as I get older, I’ve got more age spots, but I don’t like the way that foundation sits in the cracks. I’ve been experimenting with a BB cream on holiday, I like it.
Is Wayne Goss a beauty blogger? xxx

    • Catherine says:

Hi Fiona. Check out the website to see if the products are shipped internationally. The foundation is fantastic. This stuff does not rest in the cracks. Oh. Wayne Goss. WAYNE GOSS??? He’s the best vlogger on earth. He’s on Youtube. I LOVE him. He tries products on HIM and he gives honest reviews with a great sense of humor. He’s the man!!!! XOXOXOXOXO!!!!!

  8. Q.D says:

Oooh, a baked powder foundation? I know I can’t get this brand here in Australia, but I might look for something similar?

I know you said that Bare Minerals didn’t work for you, have you tried Nude by Nature (can you get Nude by Nature)? Foundations and I have a difficult relationship, but I wear their Natural Mineral Foundation Cover and it just melts into my skin and stays put. Their pressed powders don’t work for me, but the loose powder ones do.

    • Catherine says:

Hey Q. Try looking for a “baked” foundation. Honestly, I don’t know if we have Nude by Nature here–I’ll look, but loose powders just don’t work for me at all. I’m too wrinkly and lined–LOL!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  9. pasunejeunefille says:

Catherine, you are the third mature beauty blogger to recommend this foundation. I am definitely going to give it a try; I hate liquid foundation in the summer.

    • Catherine says:

Oh. I t-hink you will LOVE it. Trust me, I have some liquid foundations that I really like a lot–like the Marc Jacobs. But this Laura Geller baked stuff is an entirely different ballgame. It’s incredible!!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  10. eveange33 says:

All right it is long time that I again put my comments, I’ve been far too lazy! For my defence I am moving and buying my first ever flat, at my age. But I digress.
Catherine, I really need your advice and gentle had (I guess!) to show me how to apply make up like foundation and such. As a true french woman, I way more believe in great skin so I spend (a lot ahem) of money in stuff for the skin, especially as now, with the menopause, my skin is so dry and dehydrated. I do have foundation though.. that I never wear, for fear of mistake or heavy. Or laziness if I am honest. To avoid the fails with hot trendy “young turned” brands, I try to focus on smaller and more confidential french family owned brands or, better, organic ones (that still do not belong to the the large conglomerate). So far it works for me, at last for the stuff I am using. And I make sure that I am not wearing the same stuff as everybody does (yes I am snob!). Or I buy from Etsy, from European shops when I can. I buy some make up from Ebay too, from those family brands I was wring about above. Now I am not sure that a brand should and would be all marketing for a whole class of age, i.e to the young (the majority alas) or to the mature skin. It should be open BUT with a loyal and true to life representation, which most are not. There is also the same issue and beginning of asking for a better mature representation here in France. But it is slow. And hard. But mature women may have more means than young ones (not always true, not everywhere, especially with no pension or so little) and so could buy more expensive stuff (which do not mean they are better, of course). I drew the line following my beliefs (not testing on animals at least, organic preferred) but to each its own of course. But the question goes even beyond: are we still ok to believe and follow any things that the brands try to tell us: such stuff will help you look younger, BE younger (of course……), look better, have loooooong lashes, big lips or are we beginning to have a brain and think by ourselves to know the truth? I also plead guilty of this of course as, more than once, I did and was prey to such discourse (and honestly still am sometimes because it is hard to resist the lure of being and looking more beautiful and younger, as everybody wants to be deep inside). Yesterday I went to my organic hairdresser to have a cut and probably my last pant dye before I let my white hair shows. I told the hairdresser that I really did not care to have my white hair show (and they do, my dye does not cover them) because this is not a taboo to me. Well in the salon, several women shot me a strange look because they were asking for a full coverage, as did the hairdresser.
You are perfect as you really show what beauty can be at your age; beauty with sense of humour, with vibrancy and life, with joy and sadness. Thank you about that Catherine.

    • eveange33 says:

I know you can’t read french but maybe with Google Translation, you could give a try. Especially as the blogger does not use difficult words.

      http://www.bellesetbiendansvotrepeau.fr/on-se-fout-de-nous-et-je-suis-en-colere-contre-le-hors-serie-de-femme-actuelle/

About a magazine using too young models.

    • Catherine says:

Eve. Thank you so much for a wonderful and truthful comment. And I’m glad that this came from a French woman–it proves that French women ARE just like everyone else! (Tell THAT to the young smoke and mirrors young bloggers!)
As we age, it’s more difficult to wear the cosmetics the way we did when we were younger women. Foundation, I honestly believe, is THE most difficult beauty product to wear as we age. The liquid falls into our lines and wrinkles and looks cakey. Loose powder foundation is the arch-enemy of women with dry skin (that would be me as well!). That’s why this Laura Geller baked foundation is so great. It really does give a great finish.
But–I have to say, here in the States, smaller cosmetics and skin care companies are ridiculously expensive–especially skin care. Who has $100 and upwards to spend on a one-ounce jar of night cream? That’s where the French are lucky. You have CityPharma in Paris. I’ve purchased so many great skincare products for next to nothing at that store. I’ve even purchased products that are so out-of-reach financially here but more affordable in France. I think the French are light-years ahead of us in skin care because you celebrate women of age moreso than here. About the dye. I’m a firm believer that women should embrace what they are comfortable in. If you want to go gray–then go for it and don’t let anyone change your mind. Same with those of us who like their hair colored. I don’t want anyone pontificating to me that I should go natural. I don’t want to!
Be yourself wear the hair you want to!!!
Honestly, thank you for a great comment. It’s been a while since you commented and I’m glad to have you back!!! XOXOXOXO!!!

  11. hipchick66 says:

Sometimes I like Balance n Brighten, yet sometimes it makes my face TOO glowy. I keep it in rotation though. I’m happy to hear it’s working so well for you!!! When Laura Geller is on QVC, she always uses mature models as well as young and as far as I know, most of her customers are older. So I don’t get why her online site targets younger women. As for powder foundations, which is what I always wear (mind you, I’m 50 years old with normal skin), my favorites are Too Faced Cocoa Powder, MAC Studio Fix and Bare Minerals Matte. Years ago, the only base I wore was Clinique loose powder…lol!!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Lori. Thanks for making it known that Laura Geller uses mature women as models on her QVC shows. I like when stuff like that is pointed out. But I wonder–is it because the average QVC viewer is older? This is interesting food for thought (BTW, last night I ordered a Laura Geller “Today’s Special” from QVC and I ordered the Body Frosting from her site) . But she needs to really hone in on the older woman-as-customer–that balance n brighten is epic and I will repurchase. I’m completely on board with it. As far as the other powders go I just can’t wear them. My face is way too dry!! Thanks again for that mention!! XOXOXOXO

      • eveange33 says:

Hey what is QVC? I see that there is one available from France too? Is that a shopping platform?

      • Catherine says:

Eve. It’s a shop-at-home via TV channel. There are similar channels like that in France–I’ve watched them:)!!! XOXOXOXO!!!

      • eveange33 says:

Hey what is QVC? I see that there is one available from France too? Is that a shopping platform?
Ah I see that is a TV chain. I do not have TV so that is the reason I don’t know it. Is that good though, I would like to learn more so that I am not too ignorant.

  12. doodletllc says:

Amen…I’m sure you’re right about this foundation, but I don’t use any at all…never saw the need…but if you are on-board, then I am sure it does what it’s supposed to do. I hope Geller is listening, Catherine…she should.

  13. junedesilva says:

I wish I lived near you because I would ask you to do my makeup! I have never worn foundation yet… Also, I no longer get notifications when you’ve published a new post.😥😥 I wonder why…

    • Catherine says:

June. Check your spam. WordPress is weird sometimes. I’ve had to re-subscribe to many of my faves and some of mine have shown up in my spam folder!! And yes. I would do your makeup anytime!! XOXOXOXO!!!

  14. Laura says:

    Hi Catherine,

I’m new to your blog, found it after reading one of the comments on another blog. I’ve been reading the old posts to get caught up, now up to March 2017. It has been fun and informative for me. Thank you for all the info. I feel like I have been able to visit a lot of places through your travels.
I recently purchased e.l.f. primer and rummel foundation after reading one of your posts and love them so far. I was never one to have much success with foundation in the past. I’m on a fixed income and the prices were reasonable. I wore it to church today and for the first time, I didn’t end up with an orange face.
I really enjoy your receipes too. Am trying to find the receipe for the frozen nougantine, thought it would be good for the upcoming holidays. Also going to try and find Cajun Christmas music by Beausoleil, so beautiful.

    Thanks again,
    Laura

    • Catherine says:

Hi Laura! Hey. Welcome to the neighborhood. You will love it here because it is a great group of women (as well as some stellar guys) I’m happy that I was able to recommend an affordable foundation for you. Your wish is my command!! OHHH. Here’s the recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/french-nougatine-recipe-2124895 and as an aside, I do NOT use almond extract. I only use vanilla. Almond extract has a very strong taste. Beausoleil makes some great music and every time I listen, I want to get back to New Orleans. Thank you so much Laura–and hugs to you!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  16. J says:

Loving your blog, and you! Want to try this new Geller baked foundation but wow, here in the UK its massively expensive!
How much is it in the states as things your way seem much less than we pay here for them.
    Love J x

  17. Elle says:

Hello Catherine – I just found your blog after being frustrated with those focusing only on the “leisure class” portion of our demographic. I don’t really care about styling my home or buying a new wardrobe every season. Me: I am an economist, I work full time, and I am about to turn 60. I am seeing the effects of age, too much sun, and not enough care for myself back in the (19)70’s.

This Laura Geller post got me in my gut – marketing that ignores our (HUGE) demographic. What are they thinking? I have heard over and over that the way to get a company to listen is through Twitter. Have you tried that?

Meanwhile, I am going to try this foundation. I still love Clinique Even Better foundation, but I’m unhappy about the chemical sunscreen in it. I’ve tried a few stick foundations (Clinique, Bobbi Brown, tarte) because I travel a lot and want to minimize my liquids, but they all somehow manage to not provide much coverage while still ending up cakey. (Go figure.)

So thank you for your blog, your recommendations, and your great (feisty!) attitude. Love it!

    • Catherine says:

Hi Elle! Our demographic group needs to grow some balls and become more bold. I have a twitter account and my blog posts get automatically sent to twitter. But–it doesn’t matter. I wrote THREE LETTERS to Laura Geller and have had NO RESPONSE!!! And it puts me in a very compromising position. I love the products but am pissed off that I didn’t even get a response–do I boycott the company? No. I don’t because the products are too good. BUT–I can remain vocal and let it be known that the LAURA GELLER COMPANY DOESN’T EVEN RESPOND TO EMAILS FROM OLDER WOMEN! That’s my strategy! I do boycott a few companies. Among them Urban Decay. They sent me a very condescending email and basically said that they really want nothing to do with older women! After Estee Lauder started using Kendall Jenner as a spokesperson, I vowed to never make another Lauder purchase again. I’m working on it!
But the Geller foundation–I don’t know how the company does it but that baked powder never turns cakey!!! Glad you stopped by and gave your two cents. Don’t be a stranger!!! XOXOXOXO!!!!

  18. chrisforhair says:

Available on Ebay for $17.00 free shipping! (We’ll see…)

  19. Gayla says:

Looove your story. You hit the nail right on the head with this one! This is absolutely the best foundation I have ever used and I’ll be turning 50 this year.

  20. JennyD says:

Hi, writing from humid, hot Virginia here. I’m absolutely in agreement with you, Catherine, but I’ll tell you my only difference in use. I use the Laura Geller’s baked foundation (same one w the retractable brush) in the Summer because it is fabulous NOT running down your face and staying true. But in the winter, when my normally dry skin runs even drier, I switch to IT cosmetics “Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+”. LOVE it for the Winter because it’s moisturizing and does not settle into my 71 yr old skin. I apply it with a damp beauty blender, not with any type of brush. Both Summer and Winter, I always get asked how I keep my skin looking so great, and so of course, I spill the beans for both products. I realize not everyone’s skin is the same, but I’m passing on my own results for dry skin and hope it helps another like me. By the way, you look mahhh-vel-ous!

  21. Catherine says:

Hi Jenny! It’s so funny because I’ve tried “Your Skin But Better” and it doesn’t work for me. I LOVE iT brushes and I love the Je Ne Sais Quoi lip and cheek colors and I even have a cream illuminator that I’m getting ready to write about right now, but the brand’s “face” makeup is very drying on me. Isn’t that weird? Nothing beats Laura Geller for the heat and humidity but iT cosmetics is a hit or miss for me!!! XOXOXOXOXO

    • JennyD says:

Have to laugh, don’t we? Skin has a mind of it’s own, that’s for sure. I’m a HUGE fan of beauty blenders no matter what, though. I bought the entire kit of “brushes”, you know the ones? They are ovals and always sold in sets. I saw a gazillion raves on youtube and that’s what sold me. Thing was, all the raves were were by 20 somethings and I never even thought about it. At my age, I still ‘think’ I’m SO much younger but geez, makeup really tells the tale, so I’m careful. The brushes were certainly not for me. When you have a bored minute, try those stick blushes with a beauty blender damp sponge. Rub the stick onto the sponge and then start tapping your cheeks. I think it’s fabulous and I’ll never go back to a brush. Perfect blending every time without even a thought.
OH, and while I’m at it, I found this terrific brow pencil. Has a spoolie on the other end (but lots of them do). Thing is, THIS one is in a shade of either grey or grey/brown, whichever you prefer, that NEVER turns reddish. It’s true to itself and stays on until you wash it off. I’m telling you, you’d think it was your own brow hairs. Draw the color on first and then take the spoolie end and comb through. It’s the best I ever found and many shades to choose from. “Etude House Drawing Eye Brow, No.5 Grey, 0.2 Ounce”, $4.15 at Amazon. I have it in both the grey and the grey/brown (depending on my clothes for the day) and I’d never go back to any of the dozens I’ve tried. Sometimes older is tough but sometimes, after a million trials, we find something that is just for us :D.
      LOVE your page! XOXOXOXOXOXO

Thanks Carrie! Yeah. I’m constantly shaking my head when it comes to cosmetics for mature skin. And Laura Geller should know better than to showcase youth because she’s no spring chicken!
      XOXOXO!!

Thank you! Yes! I’m a 67-year-old woman with plenty of wrinkles! On my quest to find a foundation that would not accentuate them, all I could find was videos of women my age who have clearly had work done or lots of botox. That’s fine, to each their own, but I wanted to see what this make up would look like on my face. I know there have got to be other women out there with the same frustration! Please Laura Geller, don’t overlook those of us who are trying too look out best, wrinkles and all. Represent us!
