About Catherine

Far from perfect, but enjoying life as a non-perfect and flawed individual at 60 years young. I'm still wondering what I'll be when I grow up! The characters in my life's screenplay include my better half. He is a refined Frenchman who grew up in Paris and summered in St. Tropez. I grew up in Long Island and summered in Long Island. I am not refined. My three grown children are also a big part of my life. For their sake, they happily live where their careers have taken them! But I can still mother them from a distance! I write about the mundane. I write about deeply shallow issues. But whatever I write or muse about--it'll always be a bit on the humorous and positive side! It's all good!

Smashin’ Fashion…and Hiding a Muffin Top!

What a day! Snow is on the way and I lost my original draft of my post!  Arrgh!  Earlier today I was out and about with Chippy, my protector!  He  thinks he’s my bodyguard–and he’s so serious! Anyway, when I … Continue reading

Turkey Necks and Parking Lot Signs!

Happy Tuesday!  It’s a mild day today and very damp. My hair is exceptionally big today—and it’s the second day after my roller set. I’m feeling very “Deneuve/Barbarella/Adele” . Very mid 1960’s! Do I know how to work that ’60’s vibe … Continue reading

My Hair Lady–The Bald and the Beautiful!

Hi Everybody! This is a very  difficult subject for me to post about. Today’s post is about an issue that affects not only  older women, but I really think it can have an effect on women of all age groups. The … Continue reading

Proust Would Be Proud!

It is  a dreary, wet and totally iced-over Sunday. Today is one of those “Yeah-I’m-taking-a-shower-then-putting-my-pj’s-back-on” kinda day. I got the roller-set working (btw, this roller set will be a part of tomorrow’s posting on female hair loss), and the face … Continue reading

Out and About and “Lashing” Out!

Saturday morning! I remember back in the day when these mornings were spent rushing around to baseball, basketball, and soccer games and practices with the boys! I also remember the weekends spent driving Oona to Irish dance classes and competitions. … Continue reading

An Homage To A Grand Old Dame–Happy Birthday Miss Ruby!

She was great!  Beautiful. Lean. Strong. Affectionate when she wanted to be and, at times, slightly aloof.  She was a great companion. She was a neighborhood legend. She lived a wonderful and interesting life. When she was old and in pain, … Continue reading

Musings and Praise of Older Beauties.

I’m so happy to see that designers and advertisers are taking note of beautiful, mature and older women!  As I’ve gotten older, I’ve often wondered why so many designers, clothing manufacturers, and especially cosmetics companies keep using younger…and younger women … Continue reading

A Beauty-ful Wednesday to Ya!

Happy Hump-Day All!  The sky here is gray and the weather is bone-chilly, but I’m pumping sunshine on this particularly productive day!  Errands and chores are completed and I’m looking forward to my Wednesday evening with my Mob Wives!! That’s right–I’m … Continue reading

All About the Shoes!

Yesterday’s weather was awful. Rainy. Damp. Sleet. Ice. Ugh. It was one of those stay-indoors-in-your-pj’s kind of day.  Feeling the need to be productive, or rather, at the suggestion of my Frenchman’s (my better half) need for me to be … Continue reading
